craftyhunnypie
Hi everyone! I wonder if anyone else had problems with their chooks last night? Mine just would not go to bed even tho, the eglu had been thoroughly cleaned and had lovely new straw in the nesting box. I don't know what it was, I kept going out to see if they'd gone bed - but no! I eventually went bed about midnight & kept peeping through the bedroom curtain, but they were still out at 2am, when I popped the loo. They'd decided to snuggle down in the run and have a mothers meeting! But what was strange was that the cat wanted to be outside too last night rather than curl up inside & go sleep, it decided to curl up on my car roof! I wonder if the pets sensed something? Was it too hot? Was it the air pressure. I just don't know. But today I've got 3 exhausted chooks - had one whopper egg & one chook in the nest as we speak! But they keep dozing off. The dirty stop outs! The cat is also looking worse for wear upside down asleep! Emma.x
Helly Welly
A couple of mine have been sleeping outside on the perches, i think they are hot
The Dogmother
Both my cats have been out a lot at night recently. Biscuit came in this morning, with oil all down his back - must've been creeping around under cars. My chooks are still going to bed relatively early. I am chook-sitting for AMO at the moment and her girls are still in the run at gone 10pm I'm all out of sorts at the moment too
Guest
I think it's this weird weather It's playing havoc with everything I have to admit though, last night I slept like a log, which is very unusual for me, I'm not a very good sleeper Unlike Dan, who can sleep on a washing line
xChicken04x
Thats strange, about 10:30 last night after sleeping for a few hours our cats sudenly decided they wanted to go out and wouldnt stop crying at the door, in the end i gave up and let them out usualy, they love sleeping on the couch but last night they were desperate to go out...unless they were desperate for the loo? bronze
I think it must be the weather. Ok I'm not a pet but I've been having really disturbed nights as has the dog.

Snowy
Funnily enough I got 2 dodgy eggs today - Poms (normally perfect) had a big seam round the middle - like 2 eggs stuck together, and Beryls, normally a bit lumpy, was very lumpy with one, small soft area! Very bizarre!
bridgy chooks
Ours wouldn't go to bed for ages last night either and at around 10pm last night Maggi started making the typical 'i've made an egg noise' which really panicked me cos I thought there maybe a fox as she seemed worried but there was nothing around in the garden... odd... The Dogmother
Might be something to do with there being no moon at the moment. An astronomy mad friend tells me that this might have an influence. Jupietr's lurking on the horizon too; just off to have a look for it.
starboyhull
Thats just reminded me of a news report I read a few weeks ago saying that a police force had done research into the moons cycle and found that there was more violent crime on a full moon and that they where having more parols in the city centre.......I guess animals would react to this in a similar way...... The Dogmother
They do Karl - one of my cats goes beserk when it's a full moon
craftyhunnypie
Well my chickens normally do this bizarre performance of not going bed when it's a full moon, but I looked and their wasn't any moon last night! Something was definitely in the air! They've gone off at 9.30pm tonight no probs. All totally shattered! It's Friday the 13th tomorrow - what will they do then????? One Man Banned
the laydees were a bit funny on Wednesday night too - Joe said they were still up at midnight.........because they'd managed to close the Eglu door and were sat in the run waiting to go to bed!! Silly hens!! Margot was tucked up in bed by 9pm last night (obviously very tired) but Geri was still up and about at 11pm Perhaps they've missed me not being home very much lately....... Cinnamon
We have been having weirdness issues here too. I have had a 3 day "thunder" headache (I always get them before a storm), the hens have been up early & out late, the little bants have been even noisier than usual & we have barely seen Chilli the cat. I can't sleep either & have been having really horrible & realistic nightmares. I am putting it all down to the muggy weather
The Dogmother
Both my cats were nowhere to be seen all last night! It's drizzling here this morning, but still muggy - I wish this would resolve itself
