Ain't Nobody Here
My poor ES failed his driving test yesterday . He's had no practice at all (as he lives away at uni) so it's not that surprising but what failed him was nerves - he said his left leg was shaking uncontrollably and so he kept stalling. Would Rescue Remedy work for keeping his nerves under control for next time? I've never used it before but have seen it mentioned a lot on here . sparkysmum
Such a shame. poor lad Dont know much about rescue remedy but know of someone who uses/used Calms or maybe spelled Kalms tablets. They're a herbal remedy for anxious moments, I believe. What about relaxation cd techniques. Hope he applies again soon and puts this one behind him. Lavenders_Blue
Rescue Remedy or Valerian could well help. What a shame for the poor lad, I hope it hasn't knocked his confidence behind the wheel too much.
Ain't Nobody Here
Thanks, guys . I've ordered some Rescue Remedy from Amazon (the first review was from someone who'd used it before doing their driving test ).
Cinnamon
Rescue Remedy helped my girl pass on her second attempt, but I think that nothing helped more than failing first time around & knowing what was going to happen the second time. Just knowing what you are going up against is a huge help....I am sure his confidence will be much better next time
snowberry
Speaking from personal experience: Practise! Practise! Practise! Forget doing 'manouvres' over & over. Just get out on the road & do 'proper' driving. Kalms needs to be in your system for 2 weeks to have any real effect. Rescue Remedy is better in my opinion. & lastly, I've never quite trusted anyone that passed their test first time, I'd rather drive with some who passed on their second go
Ain't Nobody Here
That's the stumbling block, sadly. ES lives away from home at Uni so just doesn't have the opportunity to practice. YS learnt while he was living at home and it was so much easier. Having said that, ES's instructor obviously thought he was ready or wouldn't have put him forward. He only had 4 minors so the stalling was the only reason he failed (understandably!)
Alis girls
A note of caution on the pastilles - I have work related stress and got some from Boots yesterday - opened tin and couldnt close the bloomin thing again - so had to decant into tupperware. Somehow defeats the object of reducing stress if they are all over the bottom of your handbag. manufacturers please take note. and breathe. Good luck to your son. Willow
I remember being really nervous my first test, I'd had an 1 hr lesson just before my test at my instructors suggestion and my instructor commented afterwards that he'd never seen me drive like that and suggested two hrs next time. That did the trick and my only worry was I really should have gone to the loo before getting in the car for 3 hrs I think most people would be ok with a one hr lesson before their test. But I agree with others the only people who make me nervous when I'm in the car they are driving turn out to be people who passed first time
lillybettybabs
Maybe a intense course for a Christmas present that can be done at home during the holidays might help. I know Groupon had a good offer for a three a day driving course for under £100.
