Alis girls
i was reading re Asbo cat the other day - cat has attacked neighbours and terrorises neighbour hood. Our tabby is a moody mare and will take so much and then gives you a smack with her paw or "jaws" you. I always tell visiting kids that she bites so they give her a wide berth. Our ginger tom is a soppy so and so. Any others with bad tempered tabbies out there?
Eggasperated
My tabby is the soppiest thing ever, she just wants to lay all over people and suck their clothes . My previous tabby was also lovely. However, my daughters ginger cat is a nightmare - I never go anywhere near him as he bites and scratches, and he was such a lovely kitten. Olly
My tabby is as soft as butter, and too shy for most visitors to even see him as he flashes out of the cat-flap as they come in the front door! he's a real snugglepuss when we're on our own, and has never ever laid a paw on me in anger, unlike his black-and-white housemate who is a psychotic bundle of claws and teeth. He is aggressive towards other cats, though (including said housemate) and has been in a lot of fights.

dancing cloud
My Puddy can be a bit of a tabby mare, though she's never bitten anyone other than me (she knows I love her anyway ). Sometimes cuddly and sometimes grumbly, always cute - a "character". Cleo and Loki are tabbies and total softies - Cleo's a real cuddle-grub and likes a hand to sleep on - and Tozi's a ginger lump who even purrs in his sleep Think it's more the cat than the colour. Chucky Mama
I have found if anything torties are the most 'spirited'.
The Dogmother
I think it varies from one cat to another rather than being specific to colouring. I have had a very soft tabby cat, a vicious black and white cat. The two current incumbents are a very docile and cuddly cream tabby and a neurotic black and white cat. Space Chick
Thomas my departed cat was a long haired tabby and was the sweetest most loving cat ever. Harry, one of my two current Moggies, is tabby and white and he is as dull as a brush.... He's only ever aggressive to mice and inanimate objects.... This mornings inanimate object was my dressing gown
bluekarin
We had a ginger tom (him what is my profile piccy) and he was the most affectionate cat - and the fiercest! He would be so happy being stroked one minute and a split second later would bite or scratch you with no apparent warning. We also have a calico tortie and she is the same. From my experience tabby's tend to be calmer (my sister had one who was so lovely), but I do think its more down to the cat that the colour too. chickencam
We had a feisty tortie who settled down with us, but would attack any other cats that came near. We now have a tabby and a black and white, the tabby can be moody and swears at her sister on a regular basis just for existing. She has her tricky days where she has loads of pent up engery, most of it just playful, but you have to play carefully. On the other hand she is very affectionate and absolutely adores my hubby, probably because he teases her and she plays with him. I call her 'the tart' because she reminds me of a certain kind of woman Our black and white is lovely, a bit stupid, and very affectionate on her terms, however if a cat comes visiting and tries to get in through the cat flap, she is the one that defends the territory and on one occasion this left the locked cat flap ripped out of the door and the intruder long gone She never swears at us or her sister, but strange cats beware
Alis girls
Well said tabby has been reading this and is metamorphising into Mrs soppycat. What a minx.
