Really hope they havent eaten too much grass...is there anything you can give them as a supplement to prevent sourcrop?

thanks everyone!

theyre not big fans of me touching them yet so dont think i will be able to feel their crops to check but im guessing that as long as they look perky and maybe a little less 'bulgy' in the crop area in the morning they should be ok? i may get some ACV to be on the safe side and perhaps alternate with lifeguard as i have got that at the moment for in their water. dont want to add both and oveload them with supplements! am trying to be slightly more laid back about them, not worth worrying about stuff that hasnt happened yet!

have also noticed many things they can jump up on to make an escape from the netted area so may have to make some adjustments...dont want them getting into the farmers field over the back! never get them back home!

Your girls' feathers are just lovely, Hayleybug! Great photos too :D

Glad they enjoyed their FR :) I understand your worries about the chickens escaping as two of my girls are flighty and I know if they did escape their netted area, it would be very difficult to get them back...hopefully neither of us will experience that!

Beautiful, happy chooks, Hayleybug. You could feel their crops if you are a bit anxious just after they have gone to roost. Chickens are rather sleepy, gentle and east to handle at that time and their crop should feel nicely plump (with grain for the night) but not hard and not like squeezing a bag with water in it either.

thanks everyone! i bet they are quite miffed now because i have teased them with a free range and its work time midweek so they dont get any at all!

i will have a go at crop-checking, the hand in the eglu in the evening generally gets a couple of strokes before someone makes indignant noises and starts shifting about so not got that far yet! am sure they are fine.
