AJuff
OH has just been called out on standby to Finland and won't be back until 27th. He misses Christmas and DD 15th birthday. Kids x 3 are gutted, I too am very sad but more for him than for us as we'll still have a nice time. I just hope the person who rang in sick is genuinely sick and not just throwing a Christmas sicky to get off work. At least Finland is a civilised country and we'll be able to Facetime him. Ain't Nobody Here
What a shame . Such short notice too . Perhaps you should postpone Christmas till the 27th ?
Purplemaniacs
Oh dear that is a shame, not sure how old your children are, if 15 is the eldest or youngest but could you spread Christmas out over a few days so that OH can celebrate some of it when he gets back. When my parents and my IL were alive we used to have Christmas that lasted for days so that they could all celebrate it with DD and DS OH is on call in case of emergency but it normally only involves a phone call or two now, in the past he was called out, I remember going to my parents the day after Boxing Day with DD who was only 6 weeks old to have our thrid Christmas dinner, just tucking into the turkey and OH got called out, so the three of us left to deal with some aerial on top of a very high hill (not sure where) with young baby, we did finish the dinner first, Mum and Dad were very good they never complained and I was their only daughter so they must have been very disappointed to find their Christmas with us cut short Thnking of you. TheGirlsMum
My friends husband left for Afghanistan on Monday leaving 3 young boys without their dad for Christmas and the next 3 months. Can't say any more or I will rant.
craftyhunnypie
Aww no! Poor you, your kids & poor hubby having to work! If you need a little pick me up or someone to talk to if you are feeling a bit lonely &/or sad during Christmas, you know where I am. Computer is on almost all day every day & I really don't mind! All the best. Emma.x
patsylabrador
That's pretty rotten. I hope you still manage to have a good Christmas. Best wishes to you and to anyone who is seperated from loved ones because of work or war. I feel blessed this year but I will be thinking of you. AJuff
It's just very strange doing Christmas on my own:/ I'm very organised so no stress:) We just have to remind ourselves that he is lucky to have a good job, that he is very loved ( a few of my friends have split up this year:( ) and coming back:) It puts it all in perspective. I taped DSs solos at nine lessons and carols last night so DH can hear his beautiful voice. Also here's a first . . . I'm awake before the kids!!! Can't wait for them to bring stockings into bed with me to open:)))) OH says to FaceTime him then so he doesn't miss out. Isn't technology wonderful? Happy Christmas everyone! Lesley
That looks like a good perspective to have - so many will have loved ones who aren't coming back....... Have a wonderful Christmas today.......and another when he comes home Happy Christmas to you all.

freddie
Happy Christmas all!! We were woken at 6.30 with tea/coffee by our lovely daughter, I.ve done the chox, and am now going back to my rather wrecked bedroom. The dog had a new squeaky toy.. Had. 5 mins.... She removed the squeak!!
Chook n Boo Mum
If she hadn't, you would have, believe me a squeaky toy is only a good idea in the shop (many years experience speaking ) What a shame he has been called in last minute, but how lovely that DH is Facetimeable...if my DH was away, there would be no such contact, barely knows how to switch his mobile on Have a lovely extended Christmas....I think most people have several Christmas days these days due to ever expanding/split families and work commitments.
