Grandmashazzie
I am sure this topic will have been covered, but when I did a search it was about chickens eating eggs.Since getting girlies I have never eaten so many eggs in my life.Between making omelettes, crepes, quiches, cakes and buns and force feeding OH poached eggs etc.I know the advice changed and now eggs are in the good food list but I must be having at least 3/day and the same for everyone in house,we are giving some away but still have to bake etc to use them up.How does everybody else feel about egg intake? Indispensable Hobbes
I don't have any hens (yet) but my friends dad has some. I go through stages of going through loads then not so many. I make and freeze y.puddings occasionally (4eggs), soft boiled eggs (2eggs) on toast on a saturday morning, home made icecream (4eggs). egg and chips. My stepdad got me a hen keeper at Christmas so the eggs are no longer kept in the fridge.

Chicken deficient
We are all vegetarian, so I try to make sure that my little boy, if not all of us, eats egg(s) every day - they contain everything you need to grow a chick from scratch, so are chock full of vitamins, minerals, proteins and all the things we don't even know are important yet. I think that what nutritionist label as good and bad, (within the realms of fresh, unprocessed, natural foods), will keep changing as our understanding of nutrition progresses. I think that foods that would naturally have been available to humans in the past, are the way to go.

Lavenders_Blue
I eat quite a few eggs. I am also vegetarian so see them as an excellent source of protein and other goodies. I don't have them every day but do try to eat eggs 2/3 times a week - usually a couple at a time. I also bake with them, sell a few and the dog has the odd one on her dinner! charly1979
I go through phases of eating loads then phases of oh heck need to use the eggs up I did read that you can freeze an egg by cracking it whisking then disrtubuting into ice cube trays (2 cubes = 1 egg) May do that if I get overloaded but so far im managing to use ours plus I have always given the teachers and TA's that teach my children at school eggs, they all have a named egg box that they return when they want refilling Occassionally the head and deputy get some too (what a creep I am) They offer to pay me but my girls are my pets so I sont take the money and just say they are welcome to pop something into which ever charity the school is supporting pot Speaking of which its my Little Sisters birthday tomorrow and I need to bake her a cake
beulah59
I understand that eggs we 'grow' ourselves are much better for us nutritionally than any you can buy at the supermarket ... less bad cholesterol, less fat overall. I can't lay my hand on the research just now, but it's out there somewhere
chickencam
I probably eat at least one a day, more on some days with using them in baking etc. They are the ultimate convenience food.
redhotchick
Like Charly1979 said, I go through phases. Are you worried about the number of eggs you consume in relation to nutritional guidelines? I agree with others comments, guidelines change as we learn more, stick to natural foods. My personal belief is that it isn't cholesterol that we ingest that is bad for us. We can manufacture cholesterol in our bodies. High cholesterol can be linked to intake of saturated fats. My reading may be out of date. The other "fact" I cling to Is that eggs naturally contain a known cholesterol busting ingredient in sufficient amounts to balance the naturally occurring cholesterol.
