Harry Potter book - SPOILER THREAD

Recommended Posts

WARNING - THIS THREAD MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR THE NEW HARRY POTTER BOOK

Can we put any discussions about the plot of the new Harry Potter book here, so those who don't want to know what happens can easily avoid it until they have read the book.

And no, I haven't read it yet.

I am sitting here at 7.30 am waiting for the Postie, who I KNOW won't come until 10ish

I am even considering throwing some clothes on & popping to Tesco in a minute to pick on up instead

How decadent - reading all morning. 8)

Can't wait till Layla grows up a bit and I get to do something like that. I am working today (hence lots of random posts when I get bored!) I want to what you are doing.

Sorry - you were probably expecting something incisive about the Harry Potter book!

Just finished it.... We are having a pyjama day in our house. I got the book at midnight, read till 3am & read again all day.

Brill book, I don't think everything has sunk in yet. Fab ending, especially how Snape's memories get passed to Harry to enable him complete the job of killing Voldemort.

a whole pyjama day - WOW

Have you got 2 copies then or are you fighting over 1?

We got two copies, but Alexander has not even read 100 pages in his yet, & he is a fast reader.... he has been messing about on his DS

I have had a bath now & we are going out for tea :D

i don't think I have had a pyjama day since I was a teenager

I sat in the garden with a glass of champagne reading it this morning.

It sort of feels celebratory, being the last book, & I had the Champagne left over from our anniversary on Monday.

It was lovely & warm too (the sun,not the champers!)

Its dark & stormy here again now, lots of big lightning, so I am off to have a nice bubbly bath & read some more

My DD2 has had a pyjama day too. She is nearly up to page 500 now and loving it! I think she'll finish it tomorrow morning, assuming she has gone to sleep now! :D

Finished at 9.30 this morning, just over 24 hours for me (and I have a 5 year old - a very neglected 5 year old!).

WOW I'm glad they staged the battle at Hogwarts as I had been feeling it was missing from the book. I did feel more in tune with the characters than before and I never believed Harry would die. I was saddest over the death of Hedwig - something wrong with me?

I thought the part after the end was a perfect ending, to be honest I was choked up reading that - the old romantic in me is still there after all.

I shall read it again over the next week but right now there is a 5 year old who needs his Mum back!

I was saddest over hedwig too and Dobby. Maybe its because of their pure loyalty.

But the person I feel sorry for is Mrs Tonks

Her sisters are evil loonys, her husband, daughter and son-il have all been killed and shes left holding a baby who may or may not be a werewolf. (though of course we can later assume not what with snogging Bills daughter)

I started reading after putting my three to bed and eventually finished at 1.30. I'm now very tired as they got me up early.

Oh yes poor Dobby, I havn 't told Mum about him yet as I know she will be very upset (she hasn't read the last few books so not a spoiler for her).

OH BTW - I was down at the boot sale this morning and someone was already selling their copy!

I haven't got to the Dobby bit yet, but I did shed a little tear over Hedwig

I love Remus Lupin too, so that will be sad.

Funny - JKR said on Jonathan Ross the other week that when she wrote charcters death she "howled" - could that have been a cheeky reference to Lupin???

Tonks is a good character too. The Hubby LOVED her in the movie :roll:

Useless fact - she is played by the girl who played Ellie the Punk in "about A Boy" all those years ago :D

I read it from noon yesterday till 1am this morning!

It was a great read and I really enjoyed it; I wasn't to keen on the "19 Year Later" ending - one or two years later I think would have been more fitting! Would of been nice to find out Harry, Ron, Hermione & Ginny's occupations as well, you don't even get a clue!

Do you think then that we will have more HP books filling in those 19 years? :D

I agree with what has been said before about the saddest deaths being Hedwig & Dobby, I cried at those, but not at any others.

Odd that you say this, I've just talked to my sister about it and she's been saying the exact same thing - I do hope there is another(/more) book(s) filling in the 19 years, I'm intrigued to know there occupations!

I also agree with the Dobby & Hedwig deaths, they're characters that Rowling has made us close to, and it did upset me!

DD2 finished at 2am this morning. She enjoyed it but said it was a bit disappointing in places. She can't say much more because no-one else has read it!

I think she felt some bits were rather weak - but we can't discuss the details because no-one else has finished it! So I can't quiz her on it.
