auntielizzie
So Betsy is still being mysteriously pecked on the botty despite regular application of purple spray and anti-peck. Having plenty of time on my hands today (thank god for bank holidays ) I decided to bravely reach for the Stockholm Tar. On first opening the pot I thought "I'm not putting that on my chicken" . What horrible stuff And the smell is foul After a little ponder I thought I really should at least give it a go, so I got myself a little paintbrush out and an old towel and fetched Besty (who was less than happy as she really doesn't like being picked up at all "how very dare you - bok bok booooooooooook " she says. It seems you only need the tiniest amount - but the pot is HUGE Anyway, it is applied and Betsy is happily back having a lovely FR in the spring sunshine we have got this morning (I know, amazing ). I will let you know how we get on from here and if this stops the pecking/cures the problem/helps her sore little botty heal up.............. auntielizzie
Oh and by the way, all I can smell now is Stockholm Tar Even though I was really really careful not to get it on myself, the smell just seems to stick to you. I think I got a tiny spot on my finger and although I have washed it off, I can still smell it on my hand. Where I brought the brush and old towel in to the kitchen to wrap it up in a bin bag to throw away, the smell is lingering in the air Yukky yukky horrible stuff

Luvachicken
I have never used Stockholm Tar - is it an anti peck thing because I might need to give it a try. I've only ever used the disgusting stuff in an aerosol
Popularfurball
If you think the aerosol is bad......
Valkyrie
You are the first person I have heard of actually using it! I have a pot but never used it (lucky for me). Hope her botty is soon healed up and no more pecking.
Lewis
We had a delivery at work and there was a pot with a cracked base It stinks of old cigarette ash and gets everywhere!!
Popularfurball
It's handy stuff - gets used on horses too for thrush in their feet... Though I've not tried it!!
auntielizzie
The jury is still out on the stockholm tar - it seems to have worn off, so I'm wondering whether I can face a second application. Difficult to tell whether it has made any difference yet - although I can't say that there has been any dramatic change in the bare botty situation. Alis girls
Noticed today Sharona is a bare breasted gal and ordered some - they are all scrawny due to mass moulting but laying. Couldnt see any mites etc but gonna get mite and lite spray as I've lost mine. I think the long winter has taken its toil on us all even the girls.
