Holidays in Croatia?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone any experience of holidaying in Croatia?

We have never been but like the look of a boating holiday when you sail up and down the coast from Split and stop to see the sights and eat locally in the evenings.

Has anyone done this, or been to Croatia and seen these boats?

Thanks,

Tracy

We went to Rovinj a few years ago - it was lovely! A really pretty ancient town, good to explore on foot. Beautiful wooded coastline, glass-clear sea and pretty countryside, the food was actually quite good and the people were really friendly. We did a lot of riding bikes as the hotel had them for guests - but there were lots of the boats coming in and out of the harbour, we said that next time we'd do the boat thing. Not much help, but I'd be interested to hear how you get in if you do do the boats! :D

I went in 1988/89........so probably of no help to you. It was also called Yugoslavia then! I went with my best friend and her family and we stayed in a hotel in Lake Bled. We spent a day trip in Split and also went across to Venice for the day which was beautiful. The countryside is beautiful. We had a fabulous week there. Split was quite expensive but not sure if that is the case now. Hope you have a wonderful time :D My friend and I have often spoke of going back, but it probably wouldn't be the same on that back then we were single 16 year olds and now we are married mums

We went to Sipan in Croatia a few years ago a very pretty and at the time little known island. It was lovely, sailing boats came in pretty much every evening. I remember it well because sadly the noisy occupants ruined the tranquility of the island. It would have been a lovely holiday for those on the boats, just not for those on the land! The company sailing there was Sunsail. I agree that the food is a a bit like school dinners but we did have some good freshly caught and cooked seafood. We didn't find the Croatians particularly welcoming, they are not very naturally smiley. It is a lovely country I would be happy to visit again if the food was better :)
