Bread Bins

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend a really good bread bin for me?

I have had a Brabantia roll top one in stainless steel for years, but it is starting to look really shabby & I would like to replace it.

I have been eyeing the Nigella ones with the wooden lid which can be used as a board, but a few reviews have said that the lid can warp :?

It needs to be big enough to comfortably hold a couple of loafs.

Thought I would ask here as Omleteers are all knowledgeable :P

We have a big pottery crock thingy for bread with a pottery lid; I think its part of the 'Henry Watson' range - which we got from John Lewis at High Wycombe ( staff discount ??!! )

It seems to keep bread reasonably fresh and looks nice and decorative tho I seem to constantly be baking - the bread goblins are always hungry!

Mine is in the fridge too as it's homemade and doesn't have any synthetic preservatives in it, also, with just Rosie and I in the house, it doesn't get eaten quickly.

I have a couple of those enamel bread bins too Claire; picked up at the local tip for a fiver a piece - I use them for storage in the utility room.

CM, I love those barrels 8)

Can't remember how much ours was but it was no where near £70.I remember getting ours coincided with that ship dumping a whole load of wood and things including wooden barrels that people took from the beach. Lots of people commented on our barrel but I worried that people thought we had scabbed it off the beach

I have a cream ceramic one from Argos. (Page 942 of catalogue ) not good at linkies - sorry. Its usualy full of pitta, homemade, brought and wraps. Kids being half Greek love their bread - I suspect its a Greek thing. Cant remembet my bread intake as a sprog. I'm happy with this - looks nice on worktop.
