Where to buy henna hair dye from

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of dying my hair an auburn colour with henna. I have done it in the past and it was more the mahogany red colour as opposed to the orange auburn I am after. I have tried looking online for it, but most of the places seem to be in the US, or about mixing coffee and rosemary water with the henna block :? Can anyone recommended where to buy some from and what colour I should go for to make my dark blonde with a bit of grey go auburn. Thank you :D

Since this message I've had a look on the Lush website as I'm thinking about henna for my hair. I did notice that the video says you don't need to grate it, just melt in water. :)

Can I ask - how red is red? I'm about 50% grey, so would I glow in the dark???!!

Maybe that is what I need to cover the grey :?

That is what I am hoping! I will let you know how I go when I do it this weekend, if it turns up in time that is.

Not sure why it is called red poo. It doesn't appear to have that in its list of ingredients

Edited to say on their website page it says its no **** hair dye, so I think that is why it's called what it's called

This is what they website seems to say : (hope I'm not infringing copyrights... )

'We admit it; caca is French for 'poo'. Why did we name our beautiful henna hair colours 'poo'? We wanted to make the point that there are no nasty chemicals in them; they are 100% natural, lovely, safe ingredients so you can use them on your pretty heads as often as you like, building up a bright, shiny colour'

Not quite sure I understand the reasoning to be honest... are they saying poo is 100% natural, lovely and safe and can be used on our pretty heads??

Anyway, name apart, I'm glad to have read about this and will look into it... bought henna powder once and it had a complicated set of instructions with it... buying from lush seems safer!!

Took the plunge and dyed my hair last night. It was very messy putting it on and I have missed a couple of spots, especially above my ears, which was the main bit I wanted to cover due to the grey! Anyway, looked nice and subtle when I went to bed (it was still damp). I was woke up at the crack of dawn by the dog barking at someone posting a charity bag (7.45am) and when I went into the bathroom my hair looked orange! It is looking better now and will continue to darken over the next few days. I will see how it goes and may redo it with a mix of the red and the brown henna. It does feel lovely and soft and nothing like how a chemical dye makes your hair feel. I am not sure why my test strand didn't take. Might be because I didn't cover it (I put on a shower cap and wrapped over that with a towel) or because I didn't leave it on for as long as I did last night (2 hours instead of 4).
