So, my WIR is being delivered tomorrow by the Cotswold Wood Company.... They have made a 9ft by 9ft run for us, door for us in one side, door for chooks at one end, other end and wrap around one side is half height shiplap (it's very windy where we live) and solid coroline roof with a lower pitch to keep height down below 7ft... We are going to move the girls to temporary accomodation and then on saturday our gardener friend is coming to help us clear the site, prepare and lay slabs. He is then coming back on monday to help us build the run!! I have just spent a ridiculous amount with FSF buying 20 bags of woodchip. That's not to mention the scary envelope of cash to pay for the run, then the slabs etc.... Chickens lay golden eggs right?

Don't care really, operation WIR is in progress!! :dance:

So today we have two tonnes of sand, slabs and cement sitting in our drive.... :D This mornings challenge is to move the cube to temporary site. At the moment the cube sits where the new run will be and is separate from the garden by a fence and hedge of v young Hawthorne whips with a gap through for chook access.... So we need chooks out in garden, move fence to create giant hole - hmmmm I can see no problems with this! :doh:

Will update after!

Ready for slabs on Monday! The footprints in the otherwise lovely neat sand are because Buffy was so desperate to lay an egg and so confused as to where the house was she flew out of the garden to try and get to its "normal" location. :wall:

The first picture might have thrown you - there is a fence where the daffodils are and then its our neighbours. There should be a hedge! :roll:

I wish it was all ours!!

I did see the daffodils, but you still have a big garden and soooo much sky.

My garden is small - just 30 feet by 40 feet - but still big enough for some chickens :D

25 slabs in one day, good going! No wonder you're tired!! Worth it though, they will give you a great foundation for the WIR. I never regretted the effort it took to lay the 50 or so slabs that are under my run.

That is absolutely fantastic :clap::D:clap:.

What a brilliant setup. I love the square design, and it fits in with your garden design so well.

I bet you're over the moon with it, not to mention how chuffed the chooks must be :drool:.
