What are you having for supper?

Tell us what you ate Space Chick :D

Last night we had scabbard fish (it looks like a long sword, about 4 foot long and comes in either black or silver) fried with banana (traditional). A whole one cost us 11 euros and will have provided meals for 8 people. At lunch we are having fish soup made from the head and other bits.

Tonight we are having pork and mint burgers :D

Down to earth food tonight as back home

We had a hake and cauliflower curry with brown basmati rice and onion bhajees. Basically we had two cauli that were ready when we went to the allotment on the way home, and so I needed to be creative and I knew I could cook the hake from frozen :P

Space Chick, that sounds lovely :D

We had egg and lentil curry, OH moaned when he asked what was for dinner but he had to admit it was very tasty :D

Chrissie

Is that the Hugh FW recipe? If so, I make that a lot and hubby and I both really like it.

Space Chick, I love the idea of a 'pre dessert' and from now on will consider no meal to be complete without one!

No it is a Delia recipe.

Space Chick pre desert does sound like a good idea, DD and DS and his GF are coming for dinner tomorrow night, when it is just OH and weI don't normally have desert, I wonder if I should make a pre desert and a desert :D

OK, today I have made penne for the first time :D I've been making my own pasta for around a decade but have never made shapes.... However, following a glut of cauliflowers from the allotment, I had an idea for a bacon and cauliflower pasta bake.... So armed with fresh pasta and a bamboo knitting needle I have made penne, and they are now drying :D

So wish me luck for the bake for tea :P

Will report back later!

It did take a while to make them, but having just finished our tea...... It was absolutely gorgeous :D

I used the leaves like spinach from the cauliflower as well as the florets, and bacon, and a white wine, cream and herb sauce (herbs also from the allotment) with the penne and topped off with mozzarella and cheddar and baked.

It was divine :D

Will definitely make the effort again to make the penne.

Was quite a frugal tea too.... With the herbs and cauli homegrown and the pasta made with an egg from the girls
