What are you having for supper?

Recommended Posts

We went to the chip shop because we had been out fridge shopping because our 14 year old fridge has died, we did fry some fresh laid eggs with them though and had strawberries and nectarines with yoghurt and whipped cream that needed eating because of the broken fridge, for pud.

Left over broth from Sunday's boiled beef for tea tonight with a little of the beef and loads of fresh veggies.

Yesterday we went out for lunch and had soup followed by stew. The soup turned out to be a more liquid version of the stew. We had to have stew as the menu was very limited and I didn't like 2 of the 3 options. Unfortunately, yesterday morning I had already taken some stewing beef out of the freezer to make stew for tonight. So my last 5 meals will have been soup and stew, toast, weetabix, cous cous with bits in, and stew  Unfortunately I seem to have cocked up the stew and it is a bit on the spicy hot yet watery side. I shall have to reduce the liquor to give it some body and flavour. The heat will help OH who has a cold, and I suppose the vileness will help me as I won't eat too much

After last night's fiasco (OH ate it all up though, so perhaps not too terrible :D ) guess what we are having tonight?

Roast kid :D We've been to a butcher at the market and having been presented with various carcasses (meat doesn't seem to often come pre-butchered into joints here) we've come home with just over a kilo of kid, which is a back leg, half its middle and half its head with an eye

We're pot roasting the leg and have frozen the middle and head to regroup and decide how best to tackle it

We once asked a local butcher for goat meat here and he just laughed, we weren't actually joking

Tonight we had Nigella's Asian spiced kedgeree made with salmon, followed by roasted rhubarb with homemade real custard (can you tell that we have an egg glut?) I have never made proper custard before, it was yummy, OH said it was nice just like Birds :lol:

Feeling poorly and been left to fend for myself, so I've just had a very late supper of a bowl of rice pud and raspberry jam. Yum.

Ickle one had scrambled bantam Wyandotte egg with mushrooms sauteed in butter, baby sweetcorn, carrot and mange tout, followed by natural yoghurt and kiwi and then a cup of warm milk. Should have cooked enough for both of us

Last night it was lasagne, tonight it's a lamb dinner, lamb shoulder which I've been slow cooking with roast sweet potatoes, carrots, purple sprouting Brocolli, runner beans, Yorkshire puds and gravy.

Just about to start peeling the veg now, the hens will be happy!

There should be enough lamb for a lamb and kale curry tomorrow night too :D which means I should make some naan breads tomorrow, it's whether I'll have the time, as the oven cleaning man is coming in the morning!
