Yup that time of year when I am to be found to be up to my eyes in suitcases and washing packing for Spain - been a stressful week as till yesterday we didnt know if YS could fly cos of ankle. But hes in a boot affair and we got a letter from Gp to say yes we can go.

Now back to the logic thing - my 17 yr old is a handsome lad who likes to look good and all he worries about is that the right T shirts and shorts go in. OH does his own and YS lets me do it (hes 12 ). I am frantically telling everyone to wear oldest gear so that I take a clean case of washing with us - but no ES thinks I will wash when I get there Soon put him right - hotel charges a fortune to wash a sock - I have googled launderettes and will drag OH out to do washing with me and we'll have a coffee while it washes. I cant wait till hes a dad and his kids do this. I hope I live long enough to see this.

if I am honest I would love to stay at home with the animals and there is so much I could do in 2 weeks. How sad am I?

You're just too kind, my Mum would have taken me to the laundrette and made me do it whilst she went and explored! You've just mentioned he's hurt his ankle, perhaps tell him he needs to rest and elevate it whilst watching his clothes spin around

 

Have a wonderful holiday, time with the animals is bliss but the memories from family holidays last a lifetime and before too long your boys won't want to go with Mum and Dad!

Wow - I would never,never ever launder while on holiday.

My lot either pack what they need or do a quick hand wash in the bathroom sink Their choice!

 

An acquaintance of mine buys a big lot of Primark stuff & leaves it there when its dirty,so she doesn't have to wash it when she gets home - rather extreme & somewhat wasteful if you ask me

Actually my younger son hurt his leg - I just chuck in his clothes - its my eldest whose the peacock in the family. I am not alone in washing, I just leave them on the balcony to dry. you tend to get hot and dirty in the sun not to mention sweaty . I dont mind doing it once. Its just he thinks taking a suitcase of dirty washing is acceptable.

Then send him off to wash it. He might even learn some Spanish!

Nah - he'd put it on at 90 degrees whilst he chatted up the girls my youngest says that his big brother will take mum to uni with him. I used to come home with bags of dirty washing and go back to London with clean. He'll learn I had too. I soon learned to cook proper meals and wash - hes capable just lazy like a lot of lads - and its my fault I know

Daughter packs for the year. I pack for the bare minimum as does hubby. Son never been too much bother (not applicable nowadays as he is in his own place). When we've been abroad we've gone for 3 weeks so I remember washing clothes in Florida on Christmas day. Well it was thunderstorming and we weren't going out in the torrential rain that lasted all day. So it was either laundry or marathon James Bond session on the TV. Strangely I picked washing! But it was fun because other people had the same idea and we all got chatting. Me being "the Brit" because I spoke "like the Queen" - I don't speak that posh!!!!

Other times we've just washed the smalls in the sink - team effort with me washing and hubby wringing them and dried them all around the bathroom.

But it does change - since DS got his own place he's become a chef, and launderer and even washer upper! His birthday present was a Dyson and you'd think he'd got the crown jewels - loves his Dyson . . . and the attachments!!!!!

All packed - I pack like Valkyries daughter - or Joan Collins - silly as I live in a bathing costume during day and dress only for evenings, but I like my home comforts more as I get older, creakier etc. Gone are the days of a bottle of shampoo and some shorts. Yes they do change - I had to grow up quick when i left home at 18.

You could always buy him a bottle of travel laundry wash as a little holiday present.
