problem getting hold of a company - Help!

Recommended Posts

I bought our lovely new tent from an on-line company called Price Pounder based up in Bradford. I have emailed them twice and also sent a letter. I am not very good on the phone so really don't want to phone them up. My problem is this. The tent we bought has hanging bedrooms. The main back bedroom is fine as is the one you hang in the living room area. The trouble is we had two of these smaller bedrooms and not three different bedrooms. I am trying to get them to send me a new one and I can send them the wrong one back so we have a fully use-able tent. We managed to cobble the bedroom using cable ties so my son could use it, but it isn't ideal. Can you think of any other way I can get hold of them? I think they have an ebay page under a different name, but the same warehouse address. I was thinking of sending them a registered letter as my next step.

Phoning them would probably be the best way - sorry. When I have to deal with something I don't want to on the phone I normally write down what I need to say and also make notes as I go along in the conversation so I can pick out any unanswered points.

Alternatively Facebook or twitter comments can often get a reaction from a company as it is a public forum.

HTH :D .

I'm sorry but I also think that phoning them is the answer, even if it is just to refer them to the letter / email.

Why not ring and ask to confirm email address and address? If the details you have are correct explain you have just sent them an email and can they look at it to see what the problem is. Or ask if there is a person you can email direct who can deal with a problem, try to get a name.

I remember your post about the tent previously, nice tent by the way, I saw one on site recently. Can I suggest something, they are not a tent specialist as they sell all manner of things. It maybe that as a general company they won't understand what your problem is as I wasn't sure from your post. Are you a bedroom short or do you have the wrong bedrooms. I doubt they as non specialists have spares so are you asking for a whole replacement tent? If the latter you just need to find out what their returns procedure is for faulty products.

I hope that helps let us know what happens.

As I bought it through PayPal I have sent a message via them stating the item is missing bits. It is missing the back left double bedroom which sits next to the triple bedroom and we have another of the front bedrooms which sits on the opposite side where the tent curves the other way.

I will give it a couple of days to see if I hear from them and then given them a call. I am pretty sure they have sold just the inners on ebay. If they would prefer for them to collect it and send a new one I have no problem. I just want them to get in touch. They are active on their ebay account. I'll have a look at their Facebook one too and see what is on there.

So glad to have bought this through Paypal. I opened up a dispute a week or so ago and they have finally got back to me! They are apparently posting the correct inner bedroom today and will be with me tomorrow. I won't close the dispute until it is here though and I have checked it properly as I can't reopen it once closed. They did ask me why the payment was stopped, but it went out of my bank. Maybe they are asking why they can't do any transactions now?

The One Show is just talking about this very thing!

They carried out an experiment and e-mailed a few companies with a complaint, they also tweeted about the same complaints. Barclays, BT, EDF Energy and others were all included and all companies responded to the tweets within minutes, offering help. They all responded within days for the e-mails that were sent. So if you dont get the appropriate response, Tweet!

Good luck :D

Had exactly the same experience with Virgin Media!

Today in the parcel post, and whole big box full of the tent inners has turned up, like promised. Wasn't expecting the whole bag, including the very heavy steel poles mind. Have asked the seller if he wants to arrange a courier to take back the original ones I have here. I am so pleased I paid for this via PayPal. I've never used the resolution centre before, so I am so glad it worked out ok in the end. Looking forward to our next camping trip where we will have proper bedrooms and be able to use the storage hanging thing that goes between two of the bedrooms

PayPal is excellent in sorting out problems. I was buying a quite expensive item on eBay and paid by PayPal. The next day I got an email from eBay's loss prevention department saying the listing has been removed (after I had paid for it) and I should start a claim using the resolution centre to get my money back. Paypal instantly took the money out of the sellers account and put it straight back into mine within a few hours. I was quite impressed.
