Chicken bald back

I'd welcome some advice. We have a few old girls and a boy who are now 5 1/2 years old and have virtually stopped laying. They were vaccinated when we bought them. We have found a great local 'hobby breeder' who has some lovely birds but they aren't vaccinated.

 

There seem conflicting views on whether it is risky to introduce unvaccinated birds to vaccinated birds.

 

Any thoughts?

I not really sure. I have a mixture of vaccinated and unvaccinated. I haven't had any problems (fingers crossed)

I don't think it's an issue for small time chicken keepers. It's more an issue where there are large flocks. We have a mixture of ex-bats ( vaccinated) and non-vacinated home reared chickens and have had no problems.

Most of my chickens are from small private breeders and are not vaccinated. However my last remaining Silkie is vaccinated against Mareks (as were the others I originally had who have since gone off to the big chicken coop in the sky but not through Mareks). I was thinking that any others I get should be (and I'm hoping to find a gold one sometime).

None of mine have ever been vaccinated but then again, I've never mixed them with vaccinated birds.

From what I have read it's when they are young vaccinated birds can shed live virus but haven't seen any evidence either way

 

I've got a mix of both cant put any problems down to that

We have always kept a mixture of vaccinated and unvaccinated hens....
