Charlottechicken
I am selling some bits and bobs on ebay at the moment. I have just received a question about one of the items, a blouse. It is a size 8 and I have listed the length, bust, waist and hemline measurements as it is very fitted. Someone has just asked if it will be too big for a size 6 I really thought I was killing two birds with one stone putting the measurements on as well as the size, it appears not Edited November 19, 2013 by Guest
Lavenders_Blue
I can't see why anyone would ask that question anyway? Sizes vary so much between brands that it must surely be more helpful to use the measurements you listed and compare them against a garment that you already own. Charlottechicken
Exactly. I will have to respond though (and politely!), she is obviously interested, and her money is as good as the next person's.
soapdragon
Oh for goodness sake ! Like you, I always put measurements as sizes do very so much; equally, if I want to bid on something then I ask for measurements even if its a brand that I am familiar with (Boden, for ex can vary by 2" on the same size, which is a lot!) Its similar to listing an item as COLLECT ONLY (which I always do, where applicable, in large letters so numptys will read and understand) only to be asked how much postage will I charge or whether a courier can collect 'I know you only post to UK but how much would you charge to Finland?' Sometimes I think that people only see what they want to see!
Pearls007
I would just (politely!) suggest that the potential buyer compares the measurements that you have given in the listing to the measurements of a blouse that fits them ( and retire and bite tongue). The Dogmother
I have given up replying to daft questions like that Claire.
Charlottechicken
Thanks for your replies, and glad it's not just me! I replied saying that as sizes can be so varied I thought it was more useful to list the actual measurements. We'll see what happens
The Dogmother
Exactly! I usually get the ones who may or may not have read my T&Cs about not shipping abroad and ask how much to ship to X country. I used to reply to them, but have given up now. Alis girls
I'd just reply "yes" - beggars belief
soapdragon
I am always SOOOOOO tempted to reply 'JUST READ THE D**N LISTING' but then I just feel like a bad tempered old bag
The Dogmother
It's not just you A - I do that too. And why do ebay insist on emailing me in 'poor language'? "Watch item ends soon" it should read 'Watched item ends soon'
Charlottechicken
Oh dear, here we go again! I've got a dress on Ebay which I have described in item specifics as 3/4 sleeved, and in the main write up I have given the unstretched measurements, specifying that the measurements are with the fabric unstretched. Just had a message asking me if the dress is stretchy and are the sleeves long or 3/4. I am not replying to this one!
The Dogmother
you've got to laugh! I read a posting earlier that stated ' please read this comprehensive listing carefully as I don't intend answering stupid questions'
