We got the dolce gusto piccolo last january in the sales with some of our christmas money! I think we paid 39.99 or 49.99 for it in tesco on offer.

We have tried various different pods and tend to use it mostly for lattes, cappaccino and mochas. Dolce Gusto have a far greater selection on thier website shop (lots of web exclusive flavours which you can't buy in the shops) And they are sligthly cheaper than the supermarkets. It's free delivery but you have to order minmum of 4 items.

All the Dolce gusto fancy coffees like lattes/mochas etc are about £3.68 a box which is 8 drinks. Where as just plain coffee pods are same price per box but 16 drinks.

If you are a member of makro then they are cheaper for them but don't offer much of a range!

We love our piccolo and it is cheaper than going to costa or starbucks! But not cheaper than a jar of nescafe!

Personally I'd go for a proper espresso maker and coffee grinder instead. Much nicer coffee than the processed stuff in the pods. I've got a delonghi that has lasted me ages, has a steam wand attached to do lattes etc.

Means you're not limited to a particular type of pod as you just buy beans (or pre-ground). Mine is also very easy to clean, spent coffee ends up in compost.

If I could have any, I would love this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0028QHMFA/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B0028QHMFA&linkCode=as2&tag=atti24-21 Attic24Lucy has it and her photos of her mugs of coffee look devine. I do have a years old Morphy Richards grind and brew machine where you have the option of brewing a pre-ground blend of coffee beans or it will grind your beans and then brew them. It is an excellent machine, if a bit bulky so tends to live on the shelf in my kitchen. I love filter coffee but really need to get some decaf beans as too much of it makes me shake (ie 2 mugs!) It's this one http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/coffee-makers/morphy-richards-grind-&-brew.asp which now appears to be out of stock , so not much help, sorry :(

We have tried many, for our wedding we had a proper machine but only the filter was really used. Then i went onto a grinder, i still use that when i just want filter coffee. However, we got a tassimo last year for christmas. We have macciato, hot chocolate, latte and straight black pods. We love the ease of having different drinks. The choice isnt great but they are available all over. My only problem is the price of pods, it can really add up.

My friends have the other type and they often moan about the variety and cost too.

I still love my tassimo machine. Best christmas present ever.
