Chickabee
Hi, I know there's a lot of you out there from Scotland. I'm from Essex , and have just spent a few days in St Andrews visiting my son at uni. What a lovely place. So many tea shops and eaterys. Not to mention beautiful coastline and historic buildings. Stopped off in Edinburgh on way back. Fantastic city. Will definitely come again
Chortle Chook
I went to St. Andrews many years ago and it was such a lovely lovely place! My four years there have given me such lovely times to remember throughout the rest of my life. The ruins are stunning, the west sands fantastic and the east cliffs magical not to mention the friendliness of all the staff, townspeople and other students there. Your son is a lucky chap indeed (I was in Regs by the way).
Blackrocksrock
Its nice to see we are not all classed as some do as all dress in tweeds with heather in our hair!! Biased I am anyhow as I am from further up North but at this time of year with some snowy showers find it not quite so endearing some mornings!! But in the end I would not change it for the world. We certainly have lots of eateries - unfortunately I would say for the waistline!! Glad you enjoyed it and will be back - come further north the scenery is stunning! ali-s
And me I have lived up here for over 22 years now. In fact longer here than I did in my home town. I speak the local lingo with a Nottingham accent I don't think that will ever go. I can't ever imagine living anywhere else
chickencam
My son's American girlfriend has just visited St Andrews and had an informal interview, she loved it. She is currently going through her application. DS has also applied there, but with no great hope of getting in, they both desperately hope that she will get a place and that they will at least end up in the same time zone next year. It would be amazing if they both get places, but maybe not so good for their studies.
sparkysmum
Haven't been in The Nesting Box for a week or two so apologies for missing this. Great that your lad is studying at St Andrews, tis a fab uni in a beautiful part of the country. I love the East coast and have an annual pilgrimage to Elie a village in the East Neuk. Well worth a visit if you happen to be here longer than a day or two. In fact if you fancy an Omlet meet up in the summer I'm sure we could arrange something. Glad you have found us Ax
Chickabee
I'm glad I found you. It's been a week now, I can't believe it. I also can't believe I've never been before, been to Thailand, Africa, France etc. how silly. Will deffo be back
Chortle Chook
I rather like the idea of an Omlet meet up in Thailand
Princess Leia
The Kingdom of Fife is (I believe) a much overlooked part of Scotland - and so easily bypassed in the rush for the Highlands. Beautiful coastal villages, lovely countryside, nice walking, plenty to do and see. OH spends a lot of time there with work (Diageo is one of his customers). We had some brilliant family holidays there. Weather is often better than on the west coast as well.
