soapdragon
I bought some rannunculus (sp?!) bulbs last week and planted them at the weekend. The instructions stated that they should be planted pointed end down so that's what I did. However, I am having my doubts.......this means that the pointy end went into the soil with the multi armed/wriggly rooty looking bit towards the top; looked all wrong! Can any gardeners on the forum reassure me or tell me I need to excavate the bulbs and re plant them the other way up?
kissinuk
The roots will come out of the pointy bits and the plant will sprout from where they all join up. Have you put the 'spider legs' downwards? If so that's right.

jasperaliceuk
Don't worry about it. I've been listening to some Gardeners Question Podcasts and they are saying that the bulbs will right themselves in the ground. Sue
soapdragon
I thought the bulbs would 'come good' even if they were upside down but, as I wanted them to be shooting for Christmas (wrapped in cheerful cellophane etc as gifts) I did ferret around in the pots and right them! Doh- 49 and can't plant a bulb!!!!
