Egluntyne
Very interesting indeed! And very brave of them to put it on paper.
kannie
That is interesting! But it's one side of the story, and I'm not entirely clear about it. When one side is so convincing there must be a counter story.
BeckyBoo
Latest news - a third confirmed outbreak of foot and mouth, it's still in the restricted zone but further west. That's from our local radio station, we're about 7 miles away backing onto a field full of cows. Hopefull they'll stay healthy, it'll break the farmer if he loses them, he's in his late 60s and he loves his cows. Mrs B

starboyhull
I was reading about vaccination and from what I understand it is not just as simple as give the animals a vaccine and it will be alright..... I read that there are lots of different strains of the virus and sub strains and each can be something like 30% different from the last one.......This makes vaccination very difficult as they would have to vaccinate against every strain, but then if the strain varies again it would be pointless...... This was only something I was reading so I a cannot be 100% sure its right, but it sounded it to me........ Anyone else know whether this is the case or not??? chelsea
Apparently though, from what my mum told me tonight, they killed all the animals on the Surrey farm, put them on the back of a lorry covered in tarpaulin and have brought them down this way to Somerset (where she lives) for the carcasses to be cremated Doesnt this spread through the air, and if it does why do they not contain the carcasses/burning in one place?? Poor animals and poor farmers thats what I say! Breaking news on sky a moment ago quote from the NFU "it would be easier to incinerate the carcasses nearer the outbreak area" jeez, you dont need to be an expert to work that out do you!! Louise
I don't understand why they didn't use the incinerator at Pirbright to do them
xChicken04x
The poor farmers, and animals. I think on the 6 o'clock news it was a bit too graphic, with all those dead cows in a big heap. My little cousin was round at the time and she got a bit upset . I had to tell her they where sleeping
