Purplemaniacs
Sorry this is probably a really stupid question but OH bought me an ipad as a present, I had wanted one for ages but he is quite anti ipad and iphones. I am now thinking of getting a new phone. If I got an iphone 4s would the calendar I keep on the ipad talk to the one on the phone? I assume there is one on the phone Second question How much data do I need? What is it for? Thank you confused of East Northants Chrissie
The Dogmother
With regards to synching files - set it to synch only via wifi and keep the data/3G turned off unless you need it; that will keep your costs down.

DM can you explain what you mean. Leeweedon the data I was talking about is the data they talk about for the contract you seem to get unlimited texts and calls and so much data but not sure if I should just go for a smaller amount to keep costs down. The Dogmother
OK, you can synchronise your emails, contacts, calendar and other contacts via a data connection - you can do this either via a wifi connection, which is free, or a data connection (3G) where any files etc downloaded would count against your monthly allowance on your contract plan. I tend to keep both 3G and wifi turned off, mainly to stop annoying alerts coming through, but I don't use 3G unless there's no alternative as I'd rather not rack up any costs. Of course, if you have unlimited 3G, or a high download allowance, then you're fine.
Chickabee
I got my new iphone 5s from car phone warehouse. They ask all sorts of questions about what you think you need, then enter it into their computer, which then comes up with the best deals. I don't have 3G on my ipad as I only use it when wifi is available. My ipad mini is 16gb. Only a problem if you want to store lots of photos and music. I would then go for the 32 I am a massive ipad/phone fan
kissinuk
I have an ipad & an Android phone and wouldn't change either, however the one thing I do miss is the ability to sync between them both. So if you're new to smartphones etc and you like you're ipad I'd definitely go for an iPhone. As for data, don't get too worried about it, I use mine a lot and only use 200mb per month at most. If you get a contract with at least 500mb you'll be fine. As long as you stay off things like YouTube while you're out & about (ie not near wifi) then you don't need to worry about data. No need to ever switch it off if all you do is email, social media, forums etc. The tip from DM about only syncing on wifi is a must though. Just monitor your usage during your first few months, with O2 I get an app that tells me exactly how much I've used.
Geoid
I have an ipad & an Android phone and wouldn't change either, however the one thing I do miss is the ability to sync between them both. So if you're new to smartphones etc and you like you're ipad I'd definitely go for an iPhone. You can sync between them both. I have an android tablet and an iPhone. My contacts are all stored on google are synced to my iphone contacts list. Using google calendar means I can see my schedule on my tablet, phone and computer. For files and other data, dropbox does the job.
kissinuk
Yes you are correct, you can do it via other apps but you can't do it natively. Plus you can only use FaceTime on Apple devices, wish there was a way of using that on Android (without resorting to Skype).
