Luvachicken
That's a funny story, poor bloke. I'm glad he was ok. I must admit, the 5am update did make me wonder if perhaps he has dementia? I imagine if he has dementia he wouldn't remember where he left his teeth - more likely the poor chap was so embarrassed about what had happened he sneaked around early so no one would see him. Janepie33
I imagine if he has dementia he wouldn't remember where he left his teeth - more likely the poor chap was so embarrassed about what had happened he sneaked around early so no one would see him. Yes. That was it exactly. One of the ladies who rescued him has been round to check on him and he is absolutely fine but very very embarrassed. We did leave his red bucket (rescued from the pond) on top of the wheelie bin in case he was going to pay us another early morning visit to collect it, but it is still there. Poor chap has no family around. He lives on his own and his son lives in Dubai. He lost his little dog last year and he told someone that the fish were his last friends and he had to release them as they had grown too big for their tank. I am happy to report that the new fish are still alive and happily swimming around with our small shoal in the pond.
The Dogmother
Oh, bless him. Perhaps some local folks could rally round and include him in activities or offer to help him shop. We used to have a vulnerable old lady living a couple of doors down from us; I'd do her shopping, pop round to check on her etc, her immediate neighbours used to help out too. We kept her independent in her own home for as long as we could.
Grandmashazzie
So sad, wouldn't you hate to be in that position.I once gave flu jab to very spritly elderly man and as usual said see you next year and he turned, looked me in the eye and said I hope not. When I explored further he said my wife passed away,I have no family and most of my friends are gone there's really no point.I asked him about lunch clubs and he said you can be just as alone in a crowd.I felt so sorry for him. This was a few years ago and I often wonder what happened to him. You are right DM if neighbours could rally round it would be ideal.I didn't live too close to my mum and if her neighbours hadn't popped in and taken an interest she would have had nothing but the telly to brighten her day. Janepie33
I think the plan is for some neighbours to pop in and see him, but he doesn't want to meet us yet as he is still too embarrassed and as an ex policeman, aware that he was trespassing. Hopefully I can return his bucket and meet him eventually. It also transpires that he has had a triple heart bypass and is on a whole host of medication that could have caused his blood pressure to drop if he bent down too far, so maybe that was why he fell in. He was bending down so that he could release the fish gently.
