nannyhenny
I've discovered a supplier of 5kg bags of pellets with Fluvenvet! It's www.happychicks.co.uk This is enough to treat up to 6 birds for the required 7 days so little waste if you only have a small 'flockette' as it can almost all be used before the use by date! LolaLayla
Good find. I have only two girls just now and hate to waste food so this is great. Thanks
Redwing
Any idea what brand it is?
Chickabee
I think you'll find the postage is £8.50 though. I get mine from farm and pet place. The bags start at 10kg but they are the same price as 5kg from Happychicks. You can order up to 28kg for £2.99. I get all my feed from there now and easy chick bedding. I've never paid more than £4.99 postage
Valkyrie
Ooh that's good! Maybe others will soon stock the 5kg bags. Hope so. I still have plenty of powder to use up so that'll give them a chance to have them on the shelves when I go looking next. Thank you.
nannyhenny
Don't know what brand the pellets are but the web site seems good quality. I'd rather spend a bit more on shipping than waste 5kg of feed - it has such a short shelf life - but obviously everyone must do what seems best. I don't know why everyone doesn't stock this size as so many of us only have a few garden girls these days. The feed manufacturers often seem to think we all own farms! On second thoughts, though - it does sell more - could that be the reason?
The Dogmother
Any idea what brand it is? I wondered that too - I do hope they aren't splitting bags as that's unlawful. Shame about the zillions of typos on their website
Chickabee
Marriages are a very good company. I'm sure you could phone them and ask. I've phoned them to find stock it's before, they're really helpful
Chickvic
How long does a bag last when it's opened? Will it do 2 feeds 3 months apart?
The Dogmother
Depends on the use by date on each bag; some can have quite short dates.
Chickabee
I just read on the marriages web site that you don't have to worm them as often as 3 months apart, unless they have a worm burden. I think it said between 4 and 6 months. Check out their web site it's very informative
nannyhenny
I worm them every four months but have never found any treated pellets with a use by of more than 3 months - hence the search for smaller bags. They're due to be 'done' at the end of April so going to try them out. Will report back!
Chickabee
http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=80156.15 Just found this. Hope you can copy and paste it. It's a discussion forum and Happy Chicks have a post on there stating they have just had approval to split bags and sell 5kg at a time
Chickabee
Big confused about the manufacture of these pellets. I've investigated. It's seems only heygates and marriages make them.Marriages don't do 25kg bags and when I put the post code in for happy chicks on heygates website, they didn't come up as a retailer
Chickabee
Once I get a bee in my bonnet there's no stopping me. I have emailed Happy Chicks, the pellets are their own
