HarrisonFamily
Hi I normally only let my girls out with a garden of children but today I let them out as it was so nice.... I put the washing out...sat by the back door...went to put them back 5 came running in straight away but number 6 - Orinoco had disappeared - I searched everywhere ...my garden is big...under shrubs in sheds...in the play castle ...even down the road in case she got out the gate...I was giving up hope ...so I put the dog on the lead and he was so excited thinking we were going out he led me straight down the woods... down the path near where the foxes play and who should we find scratching around ...Orinoco... .Luckily the dog was still on the lead and she followed us back home.... Crazy chicken I will have to watch her a little closer...I think she was looking for the children as she is normally amongst there legs...luckily the children were not out at school or she may have gone up there and I am sure the head mistress would not have been happy !!!! Orinoco is obviously one very mischievous ex barn hen.

dancing cloud
For girls that have spent a lot of their lives in confined spaces, they are very adept at escaping - under, over or through the smallest gap! I'd never really spoken to my neighbours before I had ex-batts (it was an area where one said hello and nothing more), but the hens seemed to feel the need to network and, at one point or another, made their way into all the surrounding gardens. I used to get christmas cards addressed to the chooks Not sure about Orinoco's choice of playmates, though ...
