The Dogmother
There's a phishing email doing the rounds - purports to come from PayPal and draws your attention to a transaction (payment) to Skype... do NOT click on the link supplied, but do just check your Paypal account - the transaction shouldn't be there. soapdragon
I had another one to my e-mail purporting to be from Paypal and asking for my info but, as the Paypal is in OH's name, I knew it was a phising one. Also the wording was ......colloquial, to say the least
Geoid
I had a phishing email claiming to be from paypal. It started off as "Dear Customer" etc etc. But at the bottom it said "how do you know this email is genuine? Emails from paypal will address you by your name, phishing emails will normally say dear customer or similar". A phishing email that tells you its a phishing email, genius! kissinuk
Just had this one from "HMRC". Excellent, you know I have a tax refund, but you don't know my gender . I dread the day where someone who has actually been to school starts to send spoof emails... Dear Sir/Madame, After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of 304.73 GBP Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 6-9 days in order to process it. Geoid
It was always a nice surprise seeing a letter from the inspector of taxes saying I have payed too much tax, here is your cheque
kissinuk
HMRC will send you your cheque in the post, they will never contact you by email I know, I don't really have a tax refund due, it's the " Dear Sir/Madame" part I thought was pathetic. I work in IT in the financial sector, you would be very surprised at how sophisticated scams are getting now (not this one though obviously).
