HarrisonFamily
I am thinking of getting a steam mop ....I had never heard of them... Can you use on vinyl floor ? Are they any good ? Do they dry as quick as they say ? (Mopping the floor at present results in everyone being out the house for at least an hour....) Is there one you can recommend the prices seem to vary alot ... Thank you Helen
Guest
Some people love them but personally I hate them, I just can't get on with them at all. I think the floors do dry quicker than when mopped. Sorry that was not a lot of help to you
sparkysmum
Hi I have a Van Haus, purchased from Amazon. Cheaper one I think. Didnt like it, but hubby is persuading me to give it another go.
gavclojak
I had the H2o steam mop, it cost about £90 from QVC It was really good for my laminate but after a few weeks just leaked water instead if steaming, it also had many attachments but was so fiddly to change the fittings and clumbersome to hold when not in the floor mode I gave up in the end and got a refund....back to vileda mop and bucket If you want one why not try QVC, they do a 28 day no quibble refund, so you can use it for 28 days and if you don't like it you get a full refund, all you pay is the return postage.! Lavenders_Blue
I have a super cheap steam mop from Asda Direct - it was around £25. I love it! Yes it does dry quickly, leaves your floor totally clean and hygienic and you don't need to use anything other than water in it, no cleaners, chemicals or sprays. Great for mopping the kitchen floor after the dog has dragged her raw meat all over the floor Mine is just a totally basic model, ie just a mop, it doesn't clean windows, showers or anything else but I think it's great. Angie
I had a hometec from Lakeland and had it for years, it broke last year so I bought the Shark with detachable body. I love my steam mop , I have extra pads for it,and when I wash my floor mats I toss them in with them. I love the mop as it lifts the dirt really quickly for little effort on my part and the floor dries in minutes. I do also use my water mop for the wet weather when the mud walks in, as I don't like to wipe gravel over my vinyl flooring, but as a general rule it is my steam mop most of the time. It also does the windows , the bathroom ( cleans the tiles and grout fantastically ). I use it all over the place.
clucker1
For what it is worth, I am going to try an E cloth mop. Will report back when I have purchased it, I love the e-cloths and the thought of no electric cable (for a steam mop) is my reason for choosing and a lot cheaper, £20. Plus good at killing bacteria, like the steam mops
Olly
My friend who is a cleaner swears by the Shark mop - one of the houses she cleans at has one, and she was recommending it to me for my ceramic tiled floor. I've been researching reviews on Lakeland so I'm very interested in this thread, can't decide whether to go for a Lakeland own-brand or a Shark. I've got the hand-held steamer that was one of the Lakeland 'must-haves' a year or two ago, and it's brilliant for cleaning the oven. if I ever actually used it, it would clean brilliantly, that is. HarrisonFamily
I was only going for a cheap model but shark is such a cool name and tesco's is running their boost at the moment and I have vouchers some where...... It will be interesting to see if the floor dries quickly with the ecloth ..... (As to cleaning the oven are you really suppose to do that........ I will be patient for now as my floor can wait ....and see what others think...

Daphne
Brave woman I think I've said this before but the best mop I've come across is that wielded by my OH
HarrisonFamily
Well the mop arrived today....and it cleaned the floor easily and was dry instantly....it also made my cooker door really clean as well... The floor didn't come up good enough for before and after photos ...so perhaps it was cleaner than I thought..... It was alot easier than mopping the floor and I am guessing Daphne OH will not come and mop my floor so I will keep it.... I am now going to try cleaning a whole range of things.... bluekarin
I have been looking at the Vax ones on offer on Argos. Does anyone have one of these? There is a £55 one which isn't suitable for laminate but then there is a £80 one which is and does the detergent as well as spray. It is a lot of money, and I am loath to get one and it not do what I hope it will. Do they clean ovens and hobs well for example?
