I think we're getting somewhere!

DAY 12 (again) - I've taken the plunge and taken the sleepy Pekins out of their cosy cat box ( :( ) and shoved them in the Eglu with the Wyandottes. I don't think they really noticed because they were so dopey. After a few minutes I decided it'd be best to leave the Eglu door open so that the Pekins can get out as soon as any of them wake up, and when I went out to do that the Pekins were snuggled up together on the roosting bars (another thing they've never done at night before) looking content. Fingers crossed this will work out and by the time we go away in a couple of weeks they'll all be happy sleeping in the same place

I have found your posts really interesting and informative, so glad that things are going well.

My growers are now 15 weeks and FRing happily together with only the occasional peck but it's definitely like having two little flocks instead of one. The big girls like to investigate the little ones end of the run and vice versa so I'm looking forward to removing the divider.

Thanks mollyripkim. Mine were a bit older than that when I took the divider out but there seems to be quite a size difference between the two breeds so if you don't have that you could maybe try a bit sooner. Although it doesn't happen often it is lovely when I see all mine together.

DAY 13 - all girls are OK with no injuries. When I got up the big girls were pottering about and the little girls were snoozing on their high perch, but looking at the poo tray in the Eglu I'd say all 4 did sleep in there all night. Tonight they'll be all shut in together and let out when I get up for work - a proper test!

They may do - my newbies had to be assisted up the ramp into the cube for a few days. I ended up with a hunchback but the day I went down and found them all inside was great. Actually there was one pekin missing in that pic - think she was hidden by my orpie! But from that photo I still have 3 - the buff Sussex, the cuckoo maran - her bottom is behind the black pekin (Mini RIP) and orpie (Apache RIP), and the lavender pekin. Pekin now the only little'un but she runs to the buff for protection. She still lords it over the maran though. :D
