chuckmum6
Here are a couple of photos of my growers (hatched in mid June) 'helping' in the garden. They had their broody mum with them until last Monday (very late as they are 11/12 weeks), when she laid an egg and then left them, the day before she was still feeding them and mothering them, the change was very sudden. They have been living with their mum Daisy, in my new cube since they were 8 weeks, sleeping in the trays, mum is now back in the WIR with the big girls living in the green cube and the go up. Reintroducing her was rather fraught this time, I put her in late a night, but by next morning she had caused quite an injury to her previous rival a rather old but fairly vicious Pekin - Jenny. Jenny had a bloody comb and swollen eyes after an early morning battle, she has recovered after a bit of medical care from me, but is humbled, almost, her first act when recovered was to pull a few feathers from a lower ranking hen! I might end up keep the growers seperate from the main flock all far too stressful silly birds! I am pretty sure the silver laced is a boy, but all my others are girls. Chickabee
What lovely pictures. I just separated my chicks from their mum, as I had a home for the boy. She went into a big sulk. I've broken down and put her in the make shift run within my WIR, with her 2 female chicks. They are all much happier

chuckmum6
Thanks, I have only let my growers loose on the garden, the big girls are far to destructive!

bokbok87
They look lovely!! Your garden looks lovely as well - I wish I had such green fingers. If you don't mind me asking - what camera did you use to take the photos?
chuckmum6
No, I don't mind at all bokbok87, my camera is a Nikon 5200, It takes some lovely picture. I also have a Sony Nex which I use more often, as I can shove it in my bag, the nikon is rather bulkier. I sadly don't have green fingers! My gardening only extends to a few pots and tubs, which this year did actually look good for a while, they are pretty much past it now sadly. The chickens tend to do more 'gardening' than me!
