patsylabrador
How I see things. Sad to see that we're involved in war in the Middle East again although the job was never truly finished. I don't think it ever will be, our cultures are too different. But too many of Isil are British for us to pretend to not notice what's happening. No disrespect to our military who made big sacrifices, mentally and physically but I think, with hindsight, that the Iraq war was a bad move on our part. I don't have an issue with attacks on Isil, they've provoked war, but I think the collateral damage will be concerning. Also very scared about what would happen if any of our military fall into Isil hands.
gavclojak
The Problem I have is with the "media" calling these terrorists "IS or Islamic state" they are not a state and they are not true Islamist, call them what they are, murdering scum, nothing more nothing less! They should not show pictures of them either it gives the exactly what they want to continue with their propaganda campaign. if any british citizen is found fighting, funding or supporting IS or for that matter any other terrorist groups that are not in keeping with the culture in which they CHOOSE to live then they should automaticall lose their citizenship. I personally would give them the cash for a one way ticket to "paradise" Rant over!!

Grandmashazzie
Yes PL it is a most worrying situation. I do believe here we are far too soft on suspects.I am sure intelligence here is watching various people. It is ridiculous in these times they almost need to have done something before they are apprehended. If it was some countries they would just 'disappear' I think bad times are ahead if this mornings news is anything to go by.I do feel sorry for the ordinary man in the street who is Islamic because they may get harassed.I know as coming from Ireland and visiting UK in the 70's and 80's I was aware of sidelong glances ( or have you a bomb in that handbag )
The Dogmother
I too was dismayed this morning when i opened the paper to read that we're at war in all but name. I'm no supporter of sticking our noses into other people's conflicts when we're far from perfect ourselves, but as others have said... there are Britons over there causing trouble, so we're more or less duty bound to wade into it. I agree with Gavclojak that they should no longer be allowed to hold British citizenship. This whole thing leaves me with a sick feeling
soapdragon
I agree that we are too soft on so many issues.....that's how things get to this stage where action needs to be taken. If any UK citizen is proven to be involved in the terrorism then their citizenship should IMMEDITALEY be revoked (never being allowed back into this country) and their assets in the UK seized. I am probably being dim but I can't understand how Islam, which always purports to be a peaceful religion, has been hijacked by these people and used as an excuse for violence. Surely the true Islamic people should be standing up and denouncing these madmen and making it clear that this violence and extremism has no place within true Islam? A sad, sad time
gavclojak
I think soapdragon that the Islamic community is finally coming to the realisation that they need to do more, hence the recent denouncing of these fundamentalist and the involvement, at last of Arab countries in this conflict. Could the Islamic community do more? I personally think they could.
soapdragon
I do agree.....not all Muslims are the same and those who abhor the violence perpetrated in their name should stand up and be counted. Hopefully this will get the message across that these fanatics are a very small minority. Otherwise the populace in general just lumps all Muslims together which is incorrect and could lead to further violence.....and so it escalates
The Dogmother
Yes, the risk is ... at the very least, bad feeling towards our innocent Moslem residents. At the very worst; vigilante revenge attacks
