mimi and the chooks
When we first got our chickens we had an ederly cat (Mimi) who has since died. For all of a week I was definitely never going to have another cat, but then succumbed to three beautiful ocicat kittens (who are currently helping me to type - please excuse the spelling mistakes). Mimi and the chooks never bothered each other, but these new kittens are a much livlier bunch. They have yet to be allowed loose in the garden when the hens are out, but spend many happy hours stalking round their run. Should I be worried about letting them all out together? Is there anything I can do to stop them trying to attack. (At the moment in a fight I think the chickens may just win, but I don't want any of them getting hurt) Just to keep me on my toes one of the kittens jumped up on the worsurface the other day without quite jumping far enough. He slid back, but had just managed to get 1 paw onto the edge of the egg tray which flicked up pinging eighteen egggs across the kitchen. It made a glorious mess. thank you for ay help. BeckyBoo
Oh my goodness, eighteen eggs! Naughty kittys. They should be fine with your chooks I would have thought, my cat has caught owls, squirrels and even a mole but he's yet to get anywhere near the chickens! Supervise at first if your worried, but make sure you have the camera handy, it'll probably be hilarious! Mrs B
Trish
Whilst your kittens will be curious I think they will have the sense to stay a safe distance from the chooks. We have never had any problems, cats are reasonably sensible about shomething that's just too big to take on.
