chickencam
I know that it won't be free range meat which makes me reluctant, buy my OH wants to try one for a Sunday lunch on the run up to Christmas.
Charlottechicken
I found it OK but salty. Actually not sure if it was Lidl or Aldi. We've had them a couple of times (that's twice in two years ) Buy one. then he'll get it out of his system
dancing cloud
We had the Aldi version at Christmas 3 or 4 years ago and never again - it was . Salty and fatty (fat used between the layers of meat) and very hard to cook properly without the outer meat drying out. We've stuck with a chicken or a turkey crown ever since. I agree with Charlottechicken, let the OH try it, if it doesn't cost too much, and then he won't feel too deprived

Mars
Eating chickens, excuse me. this is very close to cannibalism
chuckmum6
It just seems so wrong, I couldn't eat it. On a completely different note, I have just recently started cooking my free range chicken in the slow cooker, it is fabulous very moist and soooo tasty! We no longer have roast chook. clucker1
We had a 3 bird roast for the first time last year from out butchers and it was delicious, so having the same again this year
chickencam
Well we have just eaten the Lidl one for Sunday tea and it was ok, the stuffing is a bit pappy and sweet, and the meat as would be expected was a little tasteless, but it was good for a change. OH loved it, but I think he liked the buttered leeks I served with it even more. He had been craving leeks so I bought some and cooked then to go with the roast.
