BuryFCA1
Four weeks ago we wormed our girls with flubenvet and built them a new coop. They have settled in to the coop and know that it is home now. Previously they were each laying every day but since we wormed them and put them in the new coop we have had no eggs. I have searched around and they are not laying anywhere else. Has anyone got any ideas as to why they have just stopped laying?
auntielizzie
Erm, maybe they haven't settled properly in the new coop - sometimes these things can upset them and put them off lay. It could be due to the lack of daylight now we're coming in to winter, or they could be about to come in to moult. Maybe someone more knowledgeable might other ideas, but the flubenvet shouldn't have stopped them laying.
redsunset
Normal in such shortened daylight hours. I have 33 laying hens and am lucky to get six a day just now, sometimes less, sometimes a few more. A few are moulting plus a lot are coming up for two yr old (mostly hybrids and about 3 pure reeds). Be patient, they will soon kick start again after settling and daylight increases again. Can't wait for spring either!
Mars
Why no eggs? Because no sun
sjp
it's partly the time of year I've only got 3 laying at the moment 2 -2 year olds and a 31 week old pullet she and one of the 2yr olds started to lay about 3 weeks ago the other 2yr old been laying for a couple of months through she did stop around bonfire night for a short time in your case the move to new quarters will have played a part and assuming they aren't going to moult then this horrible 'dead' weather system we've had this last week or so could be playing a big part in them not re starting them laying once we get a bit of cold weather and clear skies with a bit of sun light on their backs that'll get them thinking about egg laying again plus it's only 18 days to the shortest day and about 24 days until till the days start to get longer well technically the afternoons get longer I've had girls start to lay just before Christmas and on Boxing day
Beantree
As other have said, it's basically just co-incidence Bury. The Flubenvet will have had no effect on them laying (should improve egg size and quality) but a change of coop and reduced daylight hours will. May start again late January early February. Cat tails
Sweet sweet Cinnamon still lays an egg every other day. Has done that ever since she started in July. The other two gave up for winter. Got an softy of one of the girls. Like saying: I give up! Out with this one!
