Just watched the underwear video, all I can say is life is way too short. I fold mine in half and put them away. I did then go on to watch several videos on how to fold fitted sheets, now that is worth knowing

Yes, I feel that actually Olly has hatched a cunning plan on this one. How many of us have watched the knicker vid even though we spend zero hours a year ironing anything And now we could all hold intelligent conversations about the merits of folding things efficiently

With regard to the vid on knicks I don't think I'd save any space with my big pants. I have visions of them springing undone and flying up when I open the drawer. Evil things they are!

Had a go with a double fitted sheet today, got in a bit of a tangle, did my own version in the end and it worked ok.

My knickers are so big I need planning permission to hang them on the washing line. I am doing the same as Valkyrie and trying to wear them to an early grave. I will NEVER buy the bagged packs of knickers again as they are always a disappointment.

 

I prefer to iron bedding but usually only iron it if it is being put away, if I can wash and dry in the same day then I bung it straight back on the bed, I can fold a fitted sheet it is a life skill I was born with.

 

Knickers are folded straight down he middle as easier to store that way.

I'm relieved to know I am not alone! Yes the 5 pack ones - and some have a horrid patterned bit that if you wear jog pants that are quite roomy in the leg but snug on the tum then that same darned pattern sticks out like a sore thumb! I wanted plain!!! * note to self - must read the blurb on the packaging properly and I curse you M&S*

Thanks for this! Being a single dad of 5 kids, I'm in dire need of making the laundry process a lot simpler and less time consuming! I didn't even know about the benefits of shaking clothes after they've been on the clothes line or out of the dryer! I've just successfully folded one of my boy's underpants and I agree, it is very therapeutic!

Yes, that is a very good tip indeed. Nowadays I have a blanket and a quilt which is quite good enough (unless it's really cold and either another blanket or OH's dressing gown will do on the top) and I leave the duvet changing to my dear two offspring to do their own. Mwah hah harrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Yup, iron with right hand, slurp coffee with left hand, fidget feet in time to the rock and roll CD's playing and I consider that multi-tasking!!!

That is a Revalation, although I think it would be easier with a thin duvet like they had or a single one than a big fluffy king size. I will give it a go though.

When I'm ironing the school clothes tonight I'll have to check what my left hand is up to?! But being my weaker hand, any slurped coffee is bound to go over the cleaned clothes!

 

I need to practice folding the underpants; I tried to show my sister yesterday about this impressive piece of folding but messed up! I might wash the bedding tomorrow to try out the duvet trick!

Easy - just turn your head to the side. Or until you become a dab hand, put it on a table to the side and wander over every time you finish an item and have a slurp. You can dance over to it at the same time, but make sure the postman or postlady is not in full view of any dance moves. I did get caught out once as I found out when signing for a parcel!

Yes, I kind of see your point. My disposable hours are when the kids are at school and here I am ironing underpants! Anyhow, my washing machine was too efficient so I've traded it in for a washboard and a mangle! (Is Monday still washing day?).

Still struggling with the underpants folding, but washed the dog's bed cover and successfully did the duvet roll with it.....how cool

I'm a wreck with an iron...always too hot which means I mark the clothes! I always have 3 Laundry baskets full of clothes every week and I've also got the in-built 'I'm a man and want to laze around' attitude which has built up over many years

[Note: not lazy now as I have too much to do.....just looking for a time saving short cut!]

Sounds a lot of money to me - you'd still have to stand there and put the clothes in and take them out. Do you really need to iron everything? I have given up ironing most things - t-shirts, jeans etc look fine once they are in wear, and I have never ironed duvet covers or sheets. Strange to relate, almost the only things I iron are tea towels, because they dry up better, and pillow cases if I have time - even they get a shake-out and put away without it if I'm too busy.

 

You can iron most stuff on a cooler setting, and if you put stuff on hangers to dry then most creases will drop out. There are exceptions of course, cotton or linen clothes need ironing but I tend to avoid buying them!

Yes, my eldest is 10....so a bit too young.

I can sell the engagement ring to cover the cost!

 

Problem is, I'm a perfectionist when it comes to ironing which means it can take me 5 minutes to iron a shirt! I think I have grown obsessive about creased clothing I shouldn't slag ironing off too much as many a box set I have watched whilst doing this chore (perhaps I've slowed down my ironing to equate to the box set episodes?!).
