Cube V Go Up

Recommended Posts

I only have 3 bantams and I have decided to fence off an area for my chooks, its 10m x 3 m

When we go away and have people over to look after them, we shut them in the run so we know they are properly safe while we are away...

Here is my debate....

I currently have an Eglu Cube with run extension I chose this because of its height for cleaning.

Now they have released the GoUp I am interesed in this as it is smaller and may suit me better with the space I have

So does anyone have any experience with both? Should I stick with the cube now that I have it, or "downgrade" to the Goup to save on space and cleaning etc?

Id appreciate any opinions thank you :)

I also have a cube and a classic as well. Whilst I do like the cube for more than a couple of hens I think if I only had 3 little bantams I might be tempted to go for something smaller. However you never know when the calling for more hens might come, in which case better to keep the cube!

I had the Go prior to the Up being brought out, and swapped it for a second-hand cube and have had no regrets. I extended the run at the beginning of the year and they have 3m to run while I am at work and the shelter of the cube above them. I never felt the plastic of the Go was as good as the classic or cube.

I have had all 4 Omlet offerings - Cube, Classic, Go, and go Up.

My favourite of all is the Cube. I started with this, and I'm now lucy enough to have 2 of them.

We bought a Classic when we wanted to introduce our first lot of new Girls. It was a lovely looking and well made thing, but not as good as the Cube. Eventually I bought a second Cube and sold the classic.

Then I needed something for chicks. The Cube wasn't suitable, I didn't want another Classic, so I bought a Go. It wasn't as well made or as robust as the Classic, but it was kinder to the grass, easier to move, easier to clean, and the run was miles better. Mind you, I did invest so that every run panel was a door panel.

When the Go Up came out, I bought the bits to upgrade my Go, and I like that setup also. It's not as good as the Cube (in my opinion), but it does make an excellent spare/quarantine coop... and I can tun it back into a ground based Go if we decide to let any of the Girls hatch their own eggs.

If you've already taken the plunge and bought a cube, I'd stick with it. (And then I'd buy the GoUp when you next introduce new hens).

Decision made, the cube stays! I managed to see a go up in the flesh and its much smaller in the flesh.

Instead Im going to buy a couple of small hiline hens to go in with my girls to fill it up a bit! 5 small girls seems about right with free range space too :)
