Help with worming please

Recommended Posts

My girls have been wormed twice in the last few months with flubanvet dosed marriages pellets (twice because during the first course I saw worms in the droppings so I repeated approx six weeks later), however one is doing droppings containing tiny yellow specks like in this post :-

Does anyone recognise this (Lewis have you done parasitology yet?!) as worm eggs or fragments?

What can I do to treat her as flubanvet obviously hasn't worked?

She's moulting at the moment but is much more subdued than I would expect.

I hate to say it but they look like tapeworm segments. I've had a nightmare trying to get rid of them in my girls and Flubenvet wont touch them. I consulted 2 different vets and was prescribed Droncit tablets which contain Praziquantel, so I strongly recommend you do the same but make sure you see a poultry expert, the first vet I saw said chickens don't get tapeworms!

If you search for tapeworms on the forum you should find more details, as there were a couple of us at the time who were having this problem

Good luck and let us know how you get on

Sorry only just seen this, we're doing Parasitology at the moment so not come across these yet.

I agree, get a sample sent off to Retfords and they should advise accordingly. You can always give Chicken Vet a call who are usually pretty good and will give advice or put you in contact with someone who can help.

Please do let us know what the results come back with, will be interested to hear.
