Worried about Lucie

Recommended Posts

In June 2013 Lucie had a wobbly head. The vet at the time could find nothing wrong and I think she suffered some kind of brain injury from flying up to the roof of the run.

We have been out all day today and when we got back about 5pm I noticed Lucie's head seemed to tick to one side in a regular beat, then she went round in a circle and then twice more. She went to sit on a perch and wobbled off and onto the floor. She managed to sit herself down and stayed sat for almost half an hour.

She took herself off to bed much earlier than the others, almost 2 hours, and was in the nest box. I gave her a little stroke and she seemed OK but then started to eat a poop which I took off her.

I don't know if she will be here in the morning :(

Maybe she has banged her head again today while I've been out although I couldn't see any injuries.

Sorry to hear Luv. Hope she is doing better this morning.

Cinnamon had some neurological problems too, but wasn't really suffering from them. She would walk with a funny gait since I had her) and would spin her head every know and again, when I would check the coop at bedtime.

As long as she is happy and eating, she should be fine.

Sorry for the late update.

I think Lucie must have had a funny turn yesterday as she has been absolutely fine today :?

She even laid an egg earlier and managed to try and have a go at being broody

This is the most eggs she has ever laid in her life and, bless her, she never has got the hang of the broody lark

Fingers crossed she just had a funny day yesterday.

It's just occurred to me that the sounds very similar to Bernie on a poorly day. It's always a non egg laying day. She's sometimes so wobbly that when just walking along the ground she has to put a wing out to steady herself, but then he next day she'll be fine. I wonder if it could be the same thing

Lucie's never really got the hang of either egg laying or being broody.

She's a funny little thing and is the oldest of my girls.

It was quite scary yesterday though. I don't like to see them with odd symptoms and her head wobbled in a different way to how it has wobbled before so that was what worried me.

I will look up neurological effects with regards to calcium and Dr Pol, thanks Cat tails.

Thanks to all of you for your wishes x
