Guest
Well we leave on the family holiday tomorrow. As some of you know Mum was insistant that the girls could not live in the Eglu run after freeranging all day for the last few months so I've had to build a big run before the holiday. At the eleventh hour I have finished it, (well the wavy roof needs some ties added in the morning!) and it's been named "Los Pollos Hacienda" as I used some rolls of brushwood screening for the back part of the roof because it was cheap and will add shade. Heres a few snaps of the building process. The extention is already planned for next summer because now I've built it MUM SAYS I CAN GET MORE CHICKENS!!! Next spring I will sell the Eglu and get a Cube! First the posts went in I made a door frame and started adding the wiring A Funny chicken moved in.... Just a few finishing touches and tidying left, but ready for habitation and our holiday! When I get back I'm going to build a platform for the eglu and then add a few more interesting features, at the moment there is a small pallet at the back for perching, a tubtrug for extra rainwater and a table for shelter. I can't believe I finally did it!

Guest
I would travel but it's back to school in a weeks time. I'm starting at a new school and I don't think they would appreciate "can I take another 6 weeks holidays to build another chicken run". Mind you my GCSE results this year were amazing so perhaps I could go in with - look if you let me take 6 weeks off I'll perform miracles with your awful year 11 pupils.... Seriously, I sweated blood and tears over that run, I though I would never finish it, my hands are wrecked, my nails are torn and broken and my arms and legs have so many scratches I look like a self-harmer. Next week on QE2 I'm gonna make Mum look after James whilst she pays for me to get a manicure!
Snowy
Well done you! That's a great job! I threatened to build mine on my own as OH wasn't interested. I made a start on it, but banked on him taking pity on me (which he did), as no way I could've finished it on my own. Great that you did it alone! AJuff
Wow, I am impressed. I'm starting building a winter run in the last week of the summer holidays as once I'm back teaching I'm lucky to have a minute to myself. I too am hoping my OH will take pity on me by Tuesday and finish it off for me . .I'll make a start though!!!

Sarah 2
Well done. Ours would have never looked that good. We had about 5 different people helping us. Well my husband I supervised. We've just put a old plastic chair and my little boys cube slide in the run for entertainment. They love it! Have a great holiday.
