Kent: bomb threat

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I thought I'd send out a little warning:

I spent the afternoon on the phone to police after seeing a bomb threat warning for the Pentagon Shopping Centre in Chatham?

I am almost 99% sure it was just some idiot trolling, but if you are in the area and near the area make sure you're vigilant and report anything.

Assuming it is a joke it makes you wonder what kind of blithering idiot would tweet something like that in this political climate!!

That idiot could face up to seven years in prison if convicted....

Would send out a strong message if s/he was caught!

If he/she does get caught - and I hope they do - they should get the book thrown at them! I suppose it's possible that they weren't even based in the UK.

There were some spelling mistakes, which looked like they were on purpose, and the tweets were also being directed at "loony Lefties" - such as myself. It might sound dreadful but it almost seemed to me like someone was deliberately trying to make it look like it was being sent by a migrant or something. Like they were trying to incite hatred... although maybe that's just my suspicious mind.

As a pro-EU, gay, Leftie blogger post-Brexit, and I mean no offence to anyone who voted Leave - as I know not everyone is the same, the amount of abuse I have faced is unreal. There is a level of utterly vitriolic hate towards us these days. Oh well. Anyway, I get trolled pretty much every day, and I'll get at least one death threat per month!! That's kind of what made me think it was 'deliberate', like a set-up...

Going back on topic: I haven't seen anything in the news, although I would assume they have stepped up security just in case. I've not had any updates from the police and I assume I am unlikely to unless they want me to provide a statement.

Hopefully it'll turn out to be some idiot teenager in their bedroom and nothing will happen!

Thank you - that is very close to where I live and was planning on going until my daughter fell ill.

Merry Christmas Everyone

I'm sorry to hear your daughter is unwell.

I think you'll be safe enough, just be vigilant!

Have a good Christmas, and I hope your daughter feels better soon.

I have a friend at work who that paragraph could be written about.

I am also strongly pro-EU and think of myself as pretty left wing.

It feels like across the whole western world there is a rapidly growing division between right and left, and a rise in the far right hat I find frightening. Add to this Trump saying he wants to increase his nuclear "Ooops, word censored!"nal...

I'm glad I don't have children.

Sorry all - Happy Christmas!

You're not the only one, trust me. Even a friend of ours who is in the military has stated that "If we get through the next 10 years without large scale rioting, a civil conflict, or another war, I'll be amazed."

I am genuinely, truly concerned at the state of the world. And I think if Trump makes it through his entire Presidency without starting at least one conflict it will be a small miracle. He has the temperament of a grumpy three year old. I'd heard that his own military advisors had to explain to him three times why he 'couldn't just drop a nuclear bomb on Syria'. *cold shiver*

You never know. Hopefully everything will turn out rosy.

Experience tells us Mods that the old adage about avoiding discussions about politics, religion or sex (unless related to chickens, which doesn't usually apply to the first two) is best avoided.

Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you all finish your preparations and enjoy a peaceful weekend.

Peaceful? You can tell you've never done Christmas at my house.:lol::lol:

It's always the same, the family feud starts around 4, and then no one talks to each other until Boxing Day.

I love my dysfunctional family, though; I almost wish we had a fly-on-the-wall documentary about us. It'd be a car-crash! :D

So am I the only person who believed this? I saw armed police at Canterbury cathedral in paper so didn't think anything amiss.

If it helps you believe it:

As I said, complete with spelling mistakes - and I wasn't the only one who had come to the conclusion it was the shopping centre in Chatham. My friend James (who one of the tweets was sent to) also reported it. I keep checking the Kent police site to see if anything has been updated. I assume they will have at very least upped security.

The account has now been suspended on Twitter.

Didn't see that thing on Twitter. As I say am guillible .

As far as I can see, the only remaining tweet is one from Kent police thanking James for his report (we both made one).

All the others were obviously deleted when the account got taken down.

I know I won't get to know the outcome unless it comes out in the papers or we are asked to give statements, but I am dying to know if the dumb*** that posted that tweet has been caught!

I hope they got their comeuppance. It's always good to hear when these idiots that tweet offensive or threatening things are held to account.
