Christian
"Secret's in the sauce." I love that film! thats one of my favourite lines! I found this 'recipe' - These fried green tomatoes are made with eggs and cornmeal or bread crumbs. INGREDIENTS: 4 to 6 green tomatoes, sliced 1/4-inch thick salt and pepper flour for dusting 2 eggs, beaten cornmeal or bread crumbs bacon grease or vegetable oil PREPARATION: Salt and pepper the tomato slices; dust lightly with flour. Dip slices in beaten egg, letting excess drip off, then coat well with meal or crumbs. Fry in hot grease or oil until browned, turning gently (about 3 minutes each side). Snowy
There's a recipe for Green Tomato Chutney in Delia's Complete Cookery course book. Sounds nice but I've never tried it myself (yet!). If anyone's interested I'll post the recipe on here.

Lesley
Is it the one with cinnamon in it? - I made that about 3 years ago and it is lovely!
Snowy
No, no cinnamon in this one Just checked. But there's also a recipe for Old Dowerhouse chutney, and also Green Tomato sauce - both use green tomatoes
BeckyBoo
Glad I'm not the only one with a greenhouse full of big, fat, plump GREEN tomatoes! Did you also see the thing on the BBC website about the plague of slugs! Something like 64 per metre rising to 100 slugs per metre they've measured! That's why ALL I have is green tomatoes and nothing else except some pathetic looking garlic and three pumpkins plants covered in flowers that then get slugged!! Next year..........
