mullethunter
I think I know the answer, but do I need to cut Bernadettes claws? Shelley's are the same.
Beantree
Yes, I think you do need to cut her claws Mullethunter. Perhaps a quarter off, maybe a third. She needs to be able to put her toe down flat, rather than twisting to the side. Sure there are plenty of posts about this process and you will know that cutting too much off will cause heavy bleeding so you need to be careful. Luvachicken
Can you use rabbit nail clippers ? Or would proper nail clippers be better ? I'm thinking my girls could do with a little trim too. When I gave mine a cuddle the other day I found a toe nail on my lap No idea which girly it belonged to though.
Cat tails
I used cat clippers once. Worked fine, but wouldn't do it again unless I had something at hand to stop the bleeding. Think you have stuff for dogs. Luckily cat nails are translucent and you don't really run the risk of cutting into the life part.
mullethunter
Thanks all. I'll get something in to stop the bleeding but hopefully won't need anything!
Lewis
You can see the quick in her nails so just take a few mm off at a time and you'll be fine. I use dog nail clippers, the plier style ones.
