OK, personal recommendations please... I have a hopelessly impractical pistachio green suede handbag - was a gift and is lovely, but very high maintenance! How best can I clean it without losing the colour or leaving marks?

No good housekeeping tips here,could you get it professionally cleaned and maybe treated to prevent further dust adhering to it.?

Thanks guys, have looked at online tips, but was hoping that someone had done it themselves and could offer advice on any pitfalls.

No Sorry did not see that bit - we used to use a suede brush on our shoes and that kept them looking good - not tried the eraser bit.

Again, nothing practical here I'm afraid as I have always avoided suede due to the difficulties of cleaning If you love your bag maybe its worth biting the bullet and getting it professionally cleaned ?

Or ask around in a good second hand shop? They must have had mucky suede in at some point.

I just don't have the time to fiddle around cleaning it - totally impractical bag, and not one that I would have bought for myself. I think it will be going to the charity shop!

Assuming it's basically clean and you're just talking about general maintenance, the classic approach should be fine - it's worked well whenever I've used it on suede shoes or my wife's suede skirt. Basically, rub some Fuller's earth into the suede, then brush off with a suede brush.

That's reminded me; stale bread is supposed to work if rubbed gently onto the surface! Off you go to the wardrobe, DM, to get that bag back out
