Monty14
We have a clay based garden. Not too bad until this last wet winter where it is now a muddy, waterlogged mess. The chickens are in deep mud but are laying and pecking all the same. Is anyone else in this situation? I check the girls over and they are fine but I don't know what to do with this garden to make it better for them. Thanks Monty 10 hens of various mix
mullethunter
A few others have had the same problem and have done various things involving creating new surfaces to help. I can’t remember who but if you search the forum you should find them.

Patricia W
I use hardwood chippings which drain well and have had paving slabs laid to form a walkway in crucial places.
The Dogmother
Slab it and whack some Aubiose in the run - done! It is important to have a covered run area as your birds will develop fungal and bacterial foot problems in the wet.
