AJuff
I feel very proud of myself for creating a new permanent run in an area of the garden I never thought possible. I am covered in scratches from clearing the area of blackberries. I have put the hens on wood chips and they have a grassy area too. All escape routes are sealed off and I feel happy that my lawn can recover before the winter sets in. Now I'm wondering if I have to change the wood chips in the run, or rake them out, or hose them down? The hens have been delighted with their new run so far. They have two high walls to fly up onto and tree branches to hop and sit on.
chelsea
sounds great. And so you should feel proud!! What lucky chickens You should post a picture of it and put it in the run inspiration thread,
feemcg
I'd like to see a pic too I think if you just rake the woodchips periodically, to turn them over and even them out, and then you'll probably want to clear it all out and renew every couple of months. I started off clearing out all the hemcore once a month, but it didn't really need it - I now do it every 2 months, when its starting to get a bit whiffy
