yannovitch
Hello, My wife and I are pregnant!!! Well, she is, really, not me... anyway: we were reading on the NHS website about what to eat and what to be careful with during pregnancy. Apparently, she should only have eggs that come under a specific label (red lion). But our hens don’t get checked for that... Has anyone got any advice as to eating our own eggs during pregnancy? Should we just boil our eggs hard every time? Should my wife avoid our eggs for a while? thanks
soapdragon
Congratulations to you both . There has been conflicting advice for some time on this issue; when I was pregnant with ES (now 14) it was NO eggs but, 3.5 years later hard boiled were fine. I'd get the update from your midwife or GP.........
Patricia W
I think it may depend if your hens were vaccinated for salmonella. I know that ex- commercial girls are, and hybrid that come from commercially produced sources. Mine aren’t as they were home reared. Might be worth looking on the DEFRA website? And talk to the midwife. But I think they will err on the side of caution. Let us know how you ge5 on
