Henypenny
Funnily enough I had exactly the same thought last week and after a couple of glasses of red wine, I caught myself ordering a red eglu to match my red cube. My plan is to use it to introduce some more hens into the cube and then perhaps get some bantams next year to put in the eglu I am collecting two lavender arucana's from the Wernlas Collection and either a Speckledy and a Bluebelle or two Speckledy's from Craeg Mhor Poultry next Sunday Whoever warned me that hen keeping was addictive was absoloutly right! foreveryoung
AJuff its bright orange! not normally the sort of colour i would go for but when i saw it not on the puter or picture it looked quite nice Shirl they were in a basic triangle g/pig run that we made a base for so there was a bit more head room. Henypenny i intend to use it for the time being to house my mum and 11 week old chick and then too introduce new hens then will tak the run off completly and just let them in and out but put run back in if one gets ill or if i want to hatch n e more! might even consider ducks one day emma xx
Krysia
Yeah have both! We have had 2 Eglu's for a while and are getting a cube soon too. We were going to sell an Eglu so we had 1 for mum and baby or for just helping to introduce new hens and sell the othwe but we are keeping them both so the second will home ducks! Great minds think alike

Shirl
Shirl they were in a basic triangle g/pig run that we made a base for so there was a bit more head room. xx So (and this is a really thick question!) do they not need a sleeping area like the Eglu provides or is the Eglu more an egg laying room than a bed? I thought chicks needed to be kept warm and I know mum can do that a bit but I thought in cold nights her warmth might not be enough? Just asking because I have a rabbit tun I could use if that's all that's needed. It's covered at one end on the end, sides and top. Would that be good enough to keep mum and chicks in for several weeks?
