Cherryl
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/tayside_and_central/7038953.stm Well you all know me, never could set up a link. Poor darlings. But I did love the phrase I think it said experience chicken catchers. Makes us sound like the child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Hope all the hens are safe and well and caught and looked after Cherryl and the girls

Missed your smilies, and read the message, and thought, gosh... thats a way to get your chickens, rescused from a motorway crash. And I really thought some had walked to your garden. Duuuh.. then read the smilies and thought it would have taken them a while to get to yoru garden Must get more coffee
BeckyBoo
Do you think you have to do a course to be described as a "specialist chicken catcher"? Or is it just someone who catches specialist chickens? Poor things though, it looks as though some of them were having a good old scratch around on the embankment, I don't like to think where they came from or where they were going. Omletina Kyckling
What made me laugh (or cry?) is this bit The Scottish SPCA said it was concerned for the welfare of the chickens. Spokeswoman Doreen Graham said many of them could be in shock and may die Two paragraphs above it states that the chickens were on the way to the "company's hen processing plant in Gainsborough" - what do they think is going to happen to the poor things there then? They're not going on holiday!
Tina C
I hope that some escape and set up a chicken commune at the side of the road - a bit like the chicken roundabout in Suffolk? Clare I would love a ride in your green van but I am working at the moment and I bet you are too!
Cherryl
[i hope that some escape and set up a chicken commune at the side of the road - a bit like the chicken roundabout in Suffolk? ] Why am I now thinking of Chicken Run ? and one of Mac's wonderful ideas of making everyone free and setting up their commune. Ain't Nobody Here
Perhaps 3 tonnes of dried mealworms might help round them up! Can you imagine the stampede? . What on earth is the chicken roundabout in Suffolk? I'm going on holiday to Norfolk on Saturday (but will be going to Suffolk too) and would like prior warning if I'm going to come across lots of chickens out of the blue! The Dogmother
Is your magic green van similar to the Wesley's Ford Anglia ? Oh, definitely! It's got a duff exhaust at the moment though, so I sound like a boy racer Here's a picture of it in the background when we went to Edinburgh to see Louise at the beginning of March - it was freezing! I'm going on holiday to Norfolk on Saturday (but will be going to Suffolk too) and would like prior warning if I'm going to come across lots of chickens out of the blue! It's on the outskirts of Bungay Vicki - all these abandoned cocks (no tittering!) live on this roundabout and some people come and feed them. We go to Norfolk quite a bit, but higher up, so don't get to Bungay often. The roundabout is world famous! I am sure that you'd find some info if you googled for it. Cherryl
Sorry everyone I read Egluntines first post, and thought she had already got some of the escaped chickens in her garden. I then realised that that was her standard signature refering to her own girls, and not that fact that she had managed one of the fastest rescue jobs in history Hope that helps C Clare, you van really is green ! I thought it was going to be green as in running on recycled chip oil
The Dogmother
Ahh, now I understand - thought my hormones had got the better of me again Yes, it is green - I'd love to run it on biofuel too but can't afford to have it converted. If you see me round town (it has BHWT stickers in the back windows) then give me a wave.
Cherryl
Hi Clare Will do. The only problem I can see with running on recycled chip oil is that the smell from the emissions would make me feel hungry. Must go back to the BBC to see if there is an update (on the chickens that is, not your green machine). And... now this will be another thread, what is its name ? (apparently girls name their cars, household appliances etc because we build up reltaionships with them)
