SueSteve
this morning my 2 potty girls (the pepperpots) were fighting. The first I knew was when I heard a loud crowing, I thought something must be upsetting them (usually happens when a neighbours cat ventures into the garden). I ran downstairs, it was one of the nutty (gingernuts) girls, then the other one started, I couldn't see a cat anywhere. I then noticed drops of blood on the path. On closer inspection I discovered that Jetts comb was bleeding! Dh said that the 2 potty ones had been fighting, but he thought theywere just playing. The bleeding stopped shortly after, and they have all been ok all day. Should I worry about it, is it likely to happen again? Thanks, Sue
theherd123
Perhaps they were just getting het up about some food You must watch now that her comb has bled a little that the others dont start pecking at it and making it worse. You could try bathing it in a weak solution of warm water and tea tree oil. I would keep a close eye on them for a few days to make sure there is no more argy bargy! tenzin
I've used Tea tree oil in the past for bathing a cut on one of my birds and the vet told me i shouldn't ever use Tea Tree on hens as it can be toxic if used directly on skin that's split .. Although i still give mine a bath using a few drops , but wouldn't use it on a cut anymore .
