susiepoos
How did things go today? Well the scan went OK but unfortunately the contrast they use to highlight the tumour makes me feel so nauseous - so I never got to have my bubbly last night but hey ho! there's always tonight Don't get my results until February which is a pain in the bum but I'm sure if there was anything wrong they would tell me sooner. These tumours are slow growing so there's no reason to think there will be a big problem but I might give the neurosurgeons secretary a ring and see if I can find out sooner. Went for an informal interview for a new job I'm going for - made sense at the time to do both whilst I was in the hospital - stupid move - made an idiot of myself 'cos I was feeling so emotional after the scan I ended up blubbering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't think they'll touch me with a barge pole now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well - we live and learn - mustn't forget to buy a lottery ticket tonight Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts - this is such a great forum
Egluntyne
Am glad the scan went OK....shame about the nausea though. Why not contact the interviewer and explain why you were a bit tearful....they might let you have another go. All the best. xx
rachel19
Congrats! I had a benign bone tumour removed about 3 years ago and that has never come back either - i no longer have to have the 6 monthly scans anymore either! Thankfully they could never give me the highlighting dye as my veins are too small
Popcorn
Susie, don't worry about the interview. You'd just been through a very emotional, wobbly experience. The most important bit is that you can go to as many interviews as you like now. If you really fancied the job, I'd be inclined to give them a call and explain what you'd just been through. You never know
The Dogmother
Glad the scan went well Sue. Sorry to hear about the nausea and blubbing thouhg - that die is the pits - I passed out once after having it. Good luck with the other interviews. Jules.
Good news Susie. Echo what others have said re the interview- did you explain to them at the time why you were feeling emotional? Having the interview on the same day is something I would do too!

tenzin
Not sure if this is in the right bit - maybe it should be in 'celebrations' but I'm sure someone will come along and move it if necessary. Well 12 months ago today I had a meningioma removed - benign brain tumour - it was a terrible scary time but with fantastic care from the NHS, my wonderful family and Meningioma Mommas (a forum for people with brain tumours), I am here 12 months on to tell the story!!!!! I go for my check MRI scan today but I'm confident that I'll get a clean bill of health and 'Madge' as the tumour was referred to by my friends has well and truly gone never to return. Tonight I will open a bottle of fizz and toast the next 12 months and look forward to getting on with my life Wonderful hearing this news . Wish you good health peace and happiness xx

Rona
Just seen this and want to say congratulations and well done on having such a positive attitude. If you weren't such a positive person you probably wouldn't have done interview and scan on the same day and any employer should see that that sort of outlook makes you a very valuable person to have in the team. My son had a malignant brain tumour removed last year. He works in Dubai so private medical insurance meant he got radiotherapy and 6 months of Temordal chemo which I believe is not available as first treatment on the NHS. He has now had two clear scans since finishing the treatment. I stayed in Dubai for 5 months after the operation until he was well enough to manage on his own as his short term memory was badly affected. His positive attitude made him a joy to be with and he used to visualise that the radiotherapy had cleared the cancer and the little Temordals were just polishing his brain till in shone like gold! Now, his only problem is with his vision due to damage to his optic nerve but he talks about what sort of car he is going to get when his sight is better. He was nearly sick during one of his early scans and the nurse said she had injected the dye too quickly so he always reminds them to put it in slowly now and hasn't had a problem since. Might be worth asking about this next time. Hope all goes well for you on the job front but whatever happens, in the great scheme of things there are more important things to celebrate so enjoy the bubbly. Good luck to your son and thank you for your kind words
